Driver side CV Axle

Anyone had replaced the Driver side CV Axle?
I need to replace mine, but I'm not sure if the CVT Fluid will come out, if so would be a lot of it?

I think it's a perfect chance to drain and refill and check level afterwards.

None came out .when I did mine, but then again, i had my drivers side on jackstands so all the fluid goes to the other side. Just know that the clip in the end of the axle is such a joy to get seated.

min working on this right now, I was about to ask about that, I can put my finger nail between the axle and the tranny, if I pull a little the gap gets bigger, can get it tight, about the tranny fluid got almost 2qt out. FML

EDIT: I tried to take it out completely again and re try but it’s locked already, so I guess the ring clip is on?! But I still feel a gap with my finger nail between the tranny and the washer on the axle

Sounds like the seal is defective. You will most likely need to replace that. Re getting the axle out, place trans in neutral (after securing the car with chocks) and rotate a bit at a time. Push/pull straight in and out, if at an angle it will never come out.

Get a long *** flathead screwdriver or prybar between them and pop that sucker out. There's nothin to it. Do a quick switch with the new one and minimize fluid loss. Run that fluid through a coffee filter as you're pouring it back into the tranny. Good to go.

I'm in the same boat, My left lower control arm is bad and needs to be replaced. I also need front brakes and my right CV axle is leaking grease from the clamp on the inner boot, and then I got some rust/paint bubbling on my right rear door so I too have some things I need to repair on my 2010. What brand CV axle did you go with are you noticing any difference while driving such as vibration etc pertaining to the CV axle? I've heard mixed reactions that replacement aftermarket CV axles are giving vibrations at certain speeds.

Nice, how did you make out with the Axle seal did you have to replace them on either side when you changed the axles?

Something I'm going to be tackling on the passenger side, not looking forward to it..lol I'm going to try the best I could to remove the axle with out damaging the seal and hopefully prevent trying to replace it, I live in Massachusetts so I'm sure I'll be dealing with some rust.

I dont think is easy to damage the seal, but dont take the chance, if you replace your axle and then you have a leak you will have to re do it, its a quick job but still. when I did the passenger side I didn't have any fluid coming out.

Thanks for the info, Yes I heard the drivers side loses more fluid than the passenger.
