Rattling noise

I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima. This noise comes and goes. Seems to be worse in the colder months. The noise is coming from the belt side of the engine. I have replaced the A/C compressor clutch already. Did not fix the issue. I have a new tension and pulley kit ready for the car. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this noise before. And what was the remedy? Also my transmission whines a lot when I’m driving it manually. More so at higher rpms. Is this normal for the CVT or should I get it looked at. Car pulls just fine with no slipping. Any ideas or comments greatly appreciated thank you. And how the hell do I post pics on here lol.

When did you last service the CVT?

I’m right under 97 K. No CVT service until 100k. I do have a lifetime warranty on the engine and trans. Just hoping I’m not having to go down that road quite yet lol.

It's the tensioner. Easy fix. Go OEM.

The Lt. would advise you to get a set of offset box-enders for the tensioner job. I took his advice and as a result used 70% fewer cuss words swapping it out.

I would do a drain and fill on the CVT every 60K at the longest...these trannys are picky with fluid. This will likely solve your whining issue.

Most of us on here agree 60K maximum on cvt fluid intervals.

Replaced the tensioner and pulleys. I’m still getting the same noise. I do have a under drive pulley and belt installed as well. Pulley and belt are no more than a year old. Any ideas of what else it could be ?

That would help us out a bit. If you could, could you also help us by pointing out what a "under drive pulley" is? Are you referring to the crank pulley? Any reason you replaced that one?

Its a Stillen Lightweight crank pulley. Gives added throttle response.

With the platform not much lol. Just some exhaust lightweight pulley and cold air intake.

It is a link to a mechanics stethoscope. Hence his reference to "poke around" with it and pinpoint the racket.

Not useless, you just need to open it with a real man's PC, not your portable google surveillance device.
