Temperature gage

My 2013 Nissan Maxima once in a while will start to overheat according to my temperature gage when I open the hood I don’t smell coolant or see any leaks

does anyone have suggestions to why it’s doing that ?

For starters, replace your coolant and radiator cap - you will see why in the link I just posted. After that, starting ruling stuff out as per the link.

Those two actions are basic maintenance measures, so hopefully that will do the trick. Good luck.
