Factory Halogen Upgrade Options

Hey guys,

New member here. Got a 2012 S with Cold Start Package. Been scratching my head and searching the forums. My headlights absolutely suck and I'm looking for options. I almost bit the bullet on an HID kit from DDM or The Retrofit Source, but I understand it involves drilling, cutting, sealing issues, legality issues, doesn't have the right projector, and if you do 50w it'll melt stuff. What options do I have that'll past state inspection and not risk wiring or heating issues?

Kinda thinking I'll try LED fog lights from Diode Dynamics, seems like there plug and play and could help. Any recommended Halogen bulbs to limp it along? Any other options? Failing that I have a LED light bar I can mount just for snow storms and back roads.

Thanks

I'm a new member as well and a female so more difficult for me to understand this forum. I too have crappy headlights and not sure what lights are best for my 2012 Max.

A long time ago HIDs saved my car from a major accident. I was driving home on a 2-lane freeway, it was very dark and started raining. I slowed down, but was still going at least 60. As I was driving, I noticed something in my lane a short distance ahead. I swerved and managed to miss it ... an entire tree had fallen across the freeway.

The car behind me was not so lucky - they hit it head on, and there was a pile up as a result. I was very thankful for my HIDs at that time, and now I won't get a car without them (if I can).

Just an anecdotal note here. I too thought my headlights were toast, so I bought brand new OEM assemblies (to get rid of any yellowing from the years) No discernable difference. So perhaps my windshield was so worn as to occlude the light reflecting from the road. No Joy. Finally went to the eye doctor and found I had cataracts! Got those taken care of and Shazam! My headlight were working fantastic again and not blinding other drivers!!
