My daughter has a 2012 Maxim and I work on it alot (simple things). It has 240k miles.

in driving, I noticed that the HVAC panel does not power up when the car is started until I touch a button on the controls. It always comes on then at 75 degrees and auto mode.

Can I set something to when it stays on and at the last settings??

On my 2009 SV the two settings buttons are underneath the headlight stick. Open the settings menu and go to options and select display. It will give you on/off options. According to my operating system manual selecting off will keep the HVAV display off until you turn it on manually by touching a button. Selecting on will turn on the HVAC screen on at startup and will set the HVAC to the settings last used.
