So you don't want it too loud, but you do want backfire noises? Am I reading that right?

Yes, you read that correctly. He wants it to sound like a UPS truck so all the neighborhood dogs bark as he drives by, then the dogs will scatter at the sound of simulated gunfire as he slows down.

His neighbors will love him.

Yeah, I don't understand this fad. Doing this to a Maxima makes even less sense.

I don't like super loud cars, but i like the back fire sounds. my cars loud enough after the cai and intake and throttle spacers. Just wanted to give it that extra performance sound without the whole ears bleeding kinda deal.

You'll have to experiment to find the right balance of removing and/or changing the mufflers and resonators......

Most of the time where you see this, it's on cars with aftermarket engine management systems, where they can create a specific "tune" (fuel map) that they can flip on, and with the right muffler/resonator combo, the pops, bangs and gurgles are easily achievable. I don't see this as being an easy mod on Maxima, especially given the CVT.
