2014 Maxima S USB Port Issue

Hey all,

Been having a weird issue with the USB port in the center console in my 2014. I plug my iPhone in via USB to listen to music and haven't had issues until the last year or so. Now, when I plug it in, either immediately or within 5 minutes, the screen glitches out or goes black and all of the stereo/climate controls stop working. Once I unplug my phone, after a minute or two everything starts back up.

It doesn't affect how the car drives at all and is contained within the stereo/AC section of the car. Has anyone had this issue before?

My thought was to just replace the head unit with an aftermarket one so I can just use Bluetooth and circumvent the issue altogether, but turns out my model has factory navigation (not installed, never used) which means my climate controls are connected to the factory stereo unit so I shouldn't replace my stereo according to Crutchfield. The trim also doesn't have an aux port, so I'm only able to listen to the radio if I want to listen to music (the horror!).

Thanks in advance.
