Cvt suggestions

Ok so I bought a used 2014 maxima with 135,500 it shift very well and I wanted to change the filter and ns2 fluid it looks like it has been done before but I honestly don't know what the fluid that was put back in as far as brand
what should I do should I leave it alone or do a drain and fill obviously I would use the ns2 but i just dont know if they used a generic brand say valvoline or the nissan ns2
any help or suggestions

Stop the overthinking of this fluid change. You have no control whatsoever on what fluid was installed if the CVT fluid was changed before you purchased the car.

Change the fluid and filter, using Nissan NS-2 and hope for the best as to trouble free motoring.

In addition to what Rick Smith suggested
, have a n external heavy duty transmission cooler installed as Nissan strongly recommends

Should I drop the pan and replace the screen filter as well or just drain and do the external filter and refill

More CVT related

One more thing.

Invest in a pluggable OBDIi scanner
and the CVTZ50 App.

It's specifically for Nissan transmissions.

It will give you a lot of information about what's going on with your CVT.

If you are comfortable of dropping the pan to change the internal filter, as you dont know if it was ever done. Make sure you use all OEM parts filters, and oil. Also change the external filter located behind the drivers front wheel mounted to the frame.

Not afraid of dropping the pan it's super easy I just don't have a dealer close by foe thevpan gasket and the screen and I only have the weekends to get the job done with my schedule. Also I am not used to a cvt transmission so I don't want to disturb to much if not nedleded but if it is something that really should be done then I will. As stated before the fluid is very very clean looking not green maybe a light oil tan color if that even but not green and I don't know the fluid used in it so I don't want to upset the apple cart if that makes sense. Just looking for some more advice from people who have run these cars with the cvt more than myself

The number one thing to prevent about Nissan Maxima CVT transmissions is to
prevent the CVT fluid from overheating.

As it stands, the standard from the factory internal CVT cooling system cannot do that. As acknowledged by Nissan.

It is strongly recommended to have an external transmission cooler installed.

So.....I think your focus should be on.
Getting an external Transmission cooler
installed rather than replacing the
CVT fluid.

This way, you're addressing the problem,
not, the symptom.
