Charging issues
I hate that Nissan has that vvcs. My maxima won't charge above 12. 2 volts. I originally came out one day to a dead battery so I replaced it and a few days later while driving it went into limp mode. I replaced the alternator but when the mechanic took out the old alternator it looked good so we tested it and it worked perfect but I kept the new alternator in. On a side note I've read about alternator being bad or going bad after a day or 2 so I had the new alternator tested before we put it in and it works fine. The new alternator didn't help also we wired a new plug that goes into the alternator. I read a bunch of forums and they said to unplug the sensor on the negative caple so I did that but I noticed it was wet so I took the battery tray off and noticed the connection point that connects to the car body looks rusted but the connection point to the tranny looks fine. The sensor was also wet with like an oil battery acid mixture I'm guessing. I want to bypass that whole vvcs system anyway so I unplugged the sensor. My big question is can that negative cable be affecting the alternator? Next question is instead of buying a new 150 dollars negative cable from the dealership can I buy one from AutoZone or advance for 20 dollars without the sensor and the alternator charge? My last question does anyone know which wire in the fuse box to cut to completely do away with that dumb vvcs? I don't care about the gas mileage I want my alternator to charge at 14 v all the time. Please help
