2016 Maxima official release photos
Wow. I'm on board now after seeing those motor trend photos.
It's funny, you see a lot of the typical: the most current generation owners (7th gen) hating on the new generation model just because their car is no longer the newest one, you see people coming out of the woodwork in every which direction with their opinion.
I really was like "meh" about it, but after seeing those up-close high resolution pictures of the SR model in gunmetal? Wow. Oh yeah, which brings me to my next point: gun metallic > silver and every other color for that matter, IMO. If you want to give your car that mean, daunting look then there's no other color.
I will say the wheels suck. 18's, 19's. All of them. So it's aftermarket on those bad boys, but other than that? What a beautiful machine.

As someone who's owned both gun metallic and now silver for me it was an easy choice. Gun metallic looks awesome and matches all the sport package stuff on 7th gen, but the silver just stands out way more. I had both side by side when making the choice..

The more I see that plastic trim and belt-line chrome fooling the eye into a floating roof design, the more critical I am with how this looks overall. Automotive design needs to flow naturally. There's nothing natural about this "floating roof". It's completely fake, made up out of whole cloth.
However, I like the little trunk spoiler. And I like the rear diffuser section.
And where's the sharkfin? Are manufacturers not doing the sharkfin anymore?

Hard to decide. Surely the best move is to see both side by side, and you will make your decision then.

From the 7th to the 8th in transition I expected to see more of this in design and looks but to each his own its gonna look different eye turning on the road vs in the pictures from what i'm thinking.

CS_AR Whoa!!! Now thats what i'm talking about this looks like it woulda been good as a 5th gen remake into the 8th gen. You know how the current Camry looks more like the one from 2002-2006 same thing. If they had said were going to make the 8th gen look like the Maxima as it did it 2002 but newer and fresher all of us would be celebrating right now!

How about these rims? I think these rims look good on the blue body. This is a picture of the 2016 Renault Laguna. I don't think blue on red would sell in the U.S.. Notice how the roof and trunk lid follow the same shape as the Maxima. I think this is a concept drawing though.

Nice looking car, though. That image has more appeal than the 8th Gen Max.

NYC Car Show
Was at the car show this last Friday specifically to see the new Max. It is outstanding. it is lot better in person. The one thing that was very noticeable
was that some of the models on the floor did not have sunroofs. Was able to sit in the cars and wow, what a difference from the 2014 models. One minor negative is that the console is very wide. If it was and 1-2 inches less would be perfect. All these things are minor compared to the fact this is a great looking car with an outstanding interior. Here are some pictures:

What about the 7th gen 19" wheels? I'm still quite impressed by how good they look.
And I think all the 7th gen 19"s looked good, starting from 2009 but especially the redesigned wheels from 2012-2014 and especially in gun metallic. I think it has to do with the current design trends as always, just look at other manufacturers wheels.

Awesome pics! I'm jealous you got to sit in one, lol. Glad to hear the interior is a step up from previous, as it was a letdown interior and exterior wise last generation. Nissan nailed it with this beast. It took 2 generations of blah, but the max is finally back.

I think it may be like automotive interiors, there are a few companies that manufacture interiors for new cars that we see across multiple car lines.
It seems car manufacturers have been outsourcing wheel production to companies like the one in the following link for a long time. I wonder why the Ford F-150 seems to get the lions (no pun intended) share of new innovations?

It looks like most of the auto industry is rolling on Maxon wheels.

Having owned several vehicles with manual trannies, and having enjoyed driving them, I also keep my mind open to the reality that CVTs are now getting better fuel efficiency than manuals, and manuals are not nearly as much fun in gridlocked traffic, which is becoming more widespread every year. I drove a 5speed manual in Atlanta traffic for six years. And paid the price with problems with the knee on my left (clutch) leg and the elbow on my right (shift) arm. Over 800 shifts on average each way to and from work, and speeds usually around 15 to 20 MPH (or worse). I did not enjoy the manual in those circumstances.
But if I lived in western Texas or eastern Montana or anywhere that traffic was not really bad, I could love a manual tranny again, even if the car was not a sports sedan. Especially if that manual shifted as smoothly as the one in the new four door Mini-Cooper 'S'.

What's up everyone. Old member here from about 11 years ago. When I saw this car I had to come log in here to see what people were saying about it..
I personally am not much impressed with this design. I'm not sure why but it doesn't do anything for me. I owned a few 01 and 02 Maximas and absolutely loved those cars. Anyways hope everyone is doing well. God bless.

Yea, I'm thinking dark tint, and a simple 5-spoke, machine-finish wheel with a small drop, and that would be PERFECT for me. Silver and Gunmetal are great colors! Can't go wrong with either.
The first thing going on is tint. Living here in the south it is a necessity, epecially since I will get the black interior!
