Video: Maxima beating 328i...
#3
Glad that the Maxima has good performance, but I was more excited to hear that the Max sounds pretty dang good when getting on the pedal, looks hot when in motion and the SR wheels look very cool while spinning! The new Maxima looks gorgeous in motion, can't wait to get mine!

^^ the 320 now holds that title. Coming from a 335i owner, the 328i is still just as worthy of a sports sedan title as my car is. Look at the reviews - the 328i has all the chassis dynamics (some would argue better due to a lighter drivetrain) and really isn't much slower than a 335i.

Nice find but, its a bit biased. I see that Nissan did not use the 328 nor A4 with their respective Sport packages as they did with the Maxima, those packages handle much better than the base versions which would make a difference. They also called it a "Sports Sedan" in that video...but recently started marketing it as a full size car, alternative to Avalon/Impala etc which aren't Sports Sedans, which is it Nissan...lol (seems like the lost identity issue will carry on). None the less I enjoyed watching this video.

WHAT!? The 335i has way more horsepower than the 328i
328i = 241 @ 5,000-6,000/255 @ 1,250-4,800
335i = 300 @ 5,800-6000/300 @ 1,300-5,000
The Maxima would get its *** beat

Well, it wasn't an independent test now was it. It was obvious who was going to win this challenge. Now I know No Audi A4, Bmw 328i (lol really?), nor an Acura TLX will beat me to the super market in my 4000lb family sedan.
Why didn't just toss a Prius in that lineup? or the Volt??? lol WTF.
Nissan has lost its touch in the market IMO and i've been apart of it since i was 18 and I am now 37. I'm moving on next time around...If anything happens to my 2011 Maxima I am buying either a E55 or E63.

Very nice catch, NissLover. Do not mind the naysayers. Each reader will see these this type of test differently, because each reader has different expectations for a vehicle. Yes, using the sportiest versions available of those other cars might have closed the finish gap somewhat, but only the BMW was within striking distance at the finish, so the results, although closer, might still be the same.
But all that is irrelevant. The true purpose of this competition was simply to show that the large, affordable family sedan we have in the 8th gen Maxima truly has a sporty edge. In my mind, to deny that is to deny reality. This test also leaves no doubt that the new CVT is tuned more for performance than the 7th gen one. And it shows that some FWD family sedans can still skedaddle.

I would like to see an independent test of Base, SV Maxima vs Base 328, Audi A4 , TLX, put base Q50 and base Avalon in for fun on comparison.
Round 2: Maxima SR vs 328 Sport, A4 with Sport, Q50 Sport and upcoming Sport version of Avalon.

That would be a very interesting comparison. The results would be more meaningful. And prices of each should also be included.

Good idea...with prices included. They were in this test as well...with the SR Maxima MSRP tested ($38495) the cheapest at more than $1000 cheaper than the next cheapest MSRP...the BMW @ $ 39500.

I'm glad the 8th spanked the 328i I always look forward to positive updates on the new max so far so good but we still have to wait until these things hit the streets i'd hate to turn on the news and hear a oversized man fell thru the floor like Fred Flinestone because of a rusted hole in the floor like our 6th gens. Again happy but still have to see where this goes after sales takeoff!!
