So let me ask you this -

On the 8th Gen,

- Do you still have to turn the cruise control "ON" everytime you start the car? Or does it stay on?

- What do you have to do to turn the Intelligent Cruise Control "OFF" (to just use "manual" cruise)?

- Do you still have to push something to "ACCEPT" the navigation disclaimer?

- Do the LED headlights have a good spread and plenty of light? (My current car has an array of several LED's to cover the whole road, whereas the Max has one projector-type unit.)

Thanks!

The lack of replies is probably because so many of us now live in areas/places where cruise control is nothing more than a memory from the distant past. I almost never get up to more than forty or fifty before I am already braking for the next light or the car in front of me turning or doing the creepy crawl.

I dream of my next trip out west, where there are places one can actually 'drive' a car as it was meant to be driven. I can remember back in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, when I often drove coast-to-coast, and how much fun it was to be on a road where I could see for miles ahead, and there was nothing in sight but level, straight, empty road as far as the eye could see. Only an occasional cactus or tumbleweed to break the flatness. I loved that. In order to avoid being banned, I will not mention the speeds I remember doing.

Surely some Texan on Montanan here will be able to answer your questions. I would think that, since tapping the brakes is one way to get out of cruise control, that we would not be in cruise control when we restarted the car. But then we have this new 'Intelligent' cruise control, and in reading about it, it seems there are two levels of 'on', with one being normal and one being intelligent. I still suspect that both levels of cruise control stop when we stop the car. Maybe someone here knows?

PS - I do recall that, as I was reading through the Quick Reference Guide that the wording was such that is seemed that if the car was equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control, then we did not have the option of non-intelligent cruise control. But the big, thick owner's manual may give further possibilities. If I am ever sentenced to twenty years in prison, I may find time to read that Owner's Manual cover-to-cover.

Yes. Every time.

Don't think you can. It may be hidden deep in the secret menu but haven't looked. Why would you want to turn it off? It only prevents you from rear ending someone. It works well IMO.

No, but it takes some time to load the infotainment system.

Plenty of light for me. I came from a '13 Maxima and just as bright as those HIDs.

Thanks!

Thanks. I will dig into the manual on the Question about whether the cruise will revert to base mode if desired. A couple of weeks ago my intelligent cruise flashed me a dash message that the Intelligent Cruise was not available when I tried to engage it on the interstate (clear day). I pulled to the side of the road and shut the car down. Waited 60 seconds, then restarted, which seemed to reset the problem. Has worked as it should since then.

- Maybe I should have elaborated. My current car and several before it do NOT require the cruise "ON/OFF" button to be pressed everytime the car is restarted ... turn it ON once and it will always be on until you manually turn it off or trade the car, whichever comes first.

I use cruise every day, many times a day. My driving style is to accelerate up to the speed limit and set the cruise, even if it 's just for a couple of blocks. It makes for smoother driving, better fuel economy and fewer tickets. It's just a habit I've gotten into over the years.

My wife's Altima requires that the ON/OFF main button be turned ON every time, and when I drive her car it makes me crazy. I always assume it's ON like with my car, and when I realize it's not I have to fumble around and reset things.

- On some cars, you can press and hold the cruise switch and the "smart" feature is turned off. Don't know if the Max is like that or not.

- As for the Nav, the wife's Altima also requires a press of the 'button' everytime the car is started to "Accept" the disclaimer. Most cars have stopped that requirement, since it's redundant and meaningless. but I don't know if the Max has or not.
