What did you do to your 8th Gen Maxima today?
Hello all, new Maxima owner here (Gun Metallic SL). Came from a 2014.5 Camry SE and we had a thread like this that seemed pretty popular and informative so I figured I'd post it up and see how it goes. If you've done something to your Maxima and feel like sharing, post it here. Anything from a major modification to an oil change or a simple wash. I see most people start new threads for a new mod or whatnot and this would be like an all inclusive one stop shop to see what all people are doing to their car.
I'll start off by noting that I replaced the carpeted floor mats with OEM all-season floor mats. It was a bit of a PITA to work the mat holders into the rubber mat's holes, these mats are THICK.
Have a couple more things planned for the car at the moment that are either en-route or waiting for a non-rainy/freezing day such as LED fogs, a 5000k HID kit for lows, AEM/K&N Dryflow drop-in air filter.

This weekend was quite productive...
Foot well & Courtesy Lights swapped to LEDs.
Picked up this nifty little thing.
I don't like putting my phone in the cubby and I use a lot of hands free functions.
License Plate lights swapped to LED.
Reverse Lights swapped to LED.
HID kit and LED fogs installed.
Comparison for HID vs Halogen headlight.
Daytime view.

Pic? I haven't decided if I want to dip my stock wheels or not, I'll probably look into some after market wheels after I recover a bit from the purchase, but I kinda like the stock color with the gun metallic.

That doesn't look bad at all, maybe if I get bored when spring/summer rolls around I'll try it out. That's why I love plasti-dip, if you don't like it or change your mind just rip that stuff right off of there.

If you're talking to me, this is the kit I used (5000k). I bought it originally for my Camry which also had H11 bulbs.

Reseaching my next lighting change... debating on if I want to pop in Ion Yellow LED fog lights or get something around 5000k. Was looking at Diode Dynamics XP80s but they're out of yellows at the moment.

This thing is sweet. Phone was dead so I only got pictures of what I set the default mode to be (blue light, solid).

This "lighting system" is hardwired. I used a fuse tap on the existing "Elec Parts (ACC)" 10a fuse in the interior fuse box and grounded to the screw supporting the fuse box. The kit comes with a switch that I leave on the on position (but I can easily access) as the fuse I tapped into is a switched power source so the lights will come on once the car is started or in acc mode.
Total install took maybe an hour and most of that time was spent deciding how/where to mount the led bars. Can try to get pics and go into more detail if anyone is interested.

*Note: I'm thinking about changing these out, I was able to get to the car wash this past weekend and noticed that I'm getting the condensation issue that others have mentioned who bought these bulbs.

H11 and H16 bulbs will fit in the fog lamp housing, the oem fogs are H16 with a 90 degree angle. Most H16/5202 don't have an angle, but there shouldn't be a problem space wise. The main difference between H11 and H16 is the wattage the bulb requires to operate, H16 require less.

Threw in the ever popular OPT7 FluxBeam LED's in my headlights as my low beams. Pretty bright but it's true what they say regarding distance. These are supposed to be top of the line as far as depth/distance & they don't quite throw as far as I'd like them to. Overall, I'm happy w them though. One thing to note for our Maxima regarding these bulbs is you have to install the polarity adapters to make these work with the stock harness. OPT7 includes them for free in every pair you buy so no extra $$, it's essentially just an extra wire that goes from harness to the little ballast for the bulbs. Also, swapped license plate & reverse bulbs to LED. Just gotta throw in my JDM AStar's in the fogs when I get more daylight. Below, I'll include everything I bought as well as pics.

Changed my fogs last night. I will now say without a doubt in my mind that the JDM ASTAR bulbs allowed moisture into my fog lamp housing. When I went to take them out I noticed they were able to wiggle around significantly. These new "bulbs" are locked in tight, no wiggle room. Went to the car wash to test it out, no water in my fogs now.
I know some people are claiming they have no issues with the JDM ASTARs, maybe it was a Quality Control issue in my case, but I would suggest people swapping out their fogs to keep the O-rings from the OEM bulbs. I was dumb and tossed them so I can't confirm my suspicions.
Will try to get a night shot tonight.

I think the color temperature difference would be the same with any LEDs compared to the DRLs. The difference in color temp is very noticeable with the stock LEDs on my SR also. I really want to change the DRLs. Their color temp is not white enough.
