Android Auto

Proud owner of a new '16 SR. But while shopping, one of the only reasons I was at all considering the Accord Touring was the addition of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

From what I can tell, its quite easy for manufacturers to update existing vehicles with the feature - as Hyundai just announced they're doing for models as far back as 2015.

I think Nissan has done a great job with the infotainment/nav system/nissan connect in the new Maximas - but Android Auto is still much better.

Anyone have any idea on the likelihood of this coming to the Maxima? Nissan is listed as an Android Auto partner.

Further - if I get really impatient, I've been thinking of replacing the stock unit with the Pioneer AVIC-8100 but have been unable to find any info on others who might have done the same. I'd imagine thered be a huge trade off in functionality since the center stack display and 8" console screen interact with each other. In addition to a loss of some steering wheel controls.

Came here today to search for this exact topic, also an SR owner.. From what I've read on other Nissan forums/reddit, since the 16's have a newer Nissan interface, it's unlikely that they'd start supporting Android Auto. Makes me sad because it'd make the vehicle perfect, and Google's interface is 1000x better than what we have.

We can always hope but I'm not so sure it'll happen. Just my personal opinion.
