Brake Pedal Issue
Brake Pedal Issue
Hi I'm a new owner of an SL which I just picked up today! The first thing I noticed while driving off the lot was a slight shuddering/vibration of the brake pedal while pressing at low speeds. I don't think this is normal and I did a few searches but didn't find anything. It's as if the pedal was not well lubricated, but only happens at certain low speeds or repeated braking. Can anyone chime in? Thanks!
I'm having the same issue and it shouldn't be normal. I have a feeling that when I take it in they will say it's "normal." Coming from an Infiniti SUV I can tell you that I haven't dealt with this issue in a long time so hope it's something they can fix.
Funny I was at the dealership yesterday and did a test drive with a technician and he said he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. But I did and my service rep said he felt something. So I left without doing anything about. As my car is over a week old I'll see how feels at the time of my first oil change and go from there. But thank goodness I'm not crazy and others seem to have felt this also.

I appreciate it. My guy did document it and suggested I wait till my first service to see how it pans out. Of course if it gets out of control I'll bring it back. But it's just something I noticed. My previous car didn't feel that way so maybe I'm not used to it. The service tech said it was the vibration of the tires on the road. So we will see.
Dealerships will do anything not to work on your car. My car is brand-spanking new so I seriously don't know why we bother paying PDI. Even worse I come home and the TPMS was chiming about the rear right tires being low on pressure and yup... they were.
NOT normal. These are the best brakes I have ever had on a car. Not the slightest hint of chatter, grabbing, noise, wobble, vibration, soft pedal, pulling to one side, squeaking, or any of the situations I sometimes have with brakes. I am almost hesitant to use them because I am afraid using them will bring on annoying characteristics that often reduce my enjoyment of driving my car.
I also feel fortunate that the Continental tires that came on my 8th gen ride as smooth as glass, even at high speeds. This ultra smoothness of the OEM tires is another first for me. I have been driving since the late 1940s, and never had tires that are this perfectly balanced at speeds well above 90MPH. Of course I seldom drive much over the speed limit, but when alone on a straight level freeway, I occasionally 'test' things with the car. This car has passed every 'test' so far, including fuel efficiency over 30 MPG on freeway trips.

Thank you for the confirmation. I just got my car last week and the Infiniti QX56 that I traded in had smooth brakes on it. I'm taking it back and if they tell me they're fine, I'm gonna tell them to jump in my old vehicle and tell me if they can tell the difference between perfect and not-so-perfect brakes.
Came back from the stealership after complaining about the failed delivery of my car (a nail in the tire and this pedal issue)... they took a look at the pedal and agreed that they too felt something but they couldn't find any problems with the brakes or the pedal and recommended me to come back after the break-in period to reassess.
Took my car in yesterday to have the brakes checked out and sure enough there was an issue. They replaced the pads and rotors with brand new ones. The car now has zero braking issues and the steering wheel does not shake when the brakes are applied.
While not directly related to your issue, I might add that smooth driving is really "power management" using the car to coast down before applying the brakes. Many drivers I know seen to think it is OK to brake at the last minute from stop light to stop light. That kind of driving can and will require a new brake job in under 25,000 miles.
