Connectivity

The plan is to upgrade my 2013 Maxima in the spring to an 8th gen. Only thing that concerns me.....no frosts my butt......is that the 8th gen. doesn't have Android Auto. I just noticed that the Chevy Spark, that retails for just under $13,000, has both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I find this totally unacceptable, and Nissan seems to be behind the curve when it comes to connectivity. I need to upgrade my smart phone, but i think the I-Phone is an over-hyped, very average piece of technology. I would hate to have to purchase a smart phone based on what car it will connect to. Maybe Android Auto is collateral damage resulting from Maxima's good value.

I know it isn't the same as "integrated" in the 8th Gen, but it will never be made available -- but Android Auto is now available to operate independent of the car. You can download the app, and use it in ANY car. Big step forward for AA users, and I like it just fine with my phone mounted horizontally on the dash with a magnetic mount. Just an option...

Not really a viable alternative for me as I can't see me grabbing my phone out of my pocket each time to mount, though it sounds as though it works for you.

You would have to take the phone out of your pocket each time to plug it in for Android Auto if it had it...

It does work for me actually... I never have my phone in my pocket I drive, it's quite convenient to just stick it on the dash. Takes about .5 seconds to do.

In nissan connect? I have a galaxy s7 edge and it works fine, I don't use it much though, since all you can send are a few pre-set messages, you cannot use voice to text thru nissan connect
