Maxima SL 2017

I decided to buy the new Maxima SL 2017 , So I went to a dealer and at a good price he gave me decided to buy it , while signing the papers the it says that the car was made in 2016 which is confusing since it's the 2017 model ...

So can you guys explain what does that mean ?? does it mean the the car is 2017 model but was made in 2016 ?? or the 2017 model is made in 2017 ?? and what is the difference between the two models (Maxima SL 2016 & Maxima SL 2017) ?

Also wanted to ask , what is the difference between the Maxima Platinum 2017 & Maxima SL 2017 and which do you guys recommend to buy ??

I'm buying the car in Israel which costs 70,000$ (The original price in the US is 37,090$) What do you guys think should I buy it ??

Thanks in Advance

Cars are sold by model year. If you are buying model year 2017, it will not be necessarily made in 2017, as is in your case. The MY2017 production can start mid year 2016 or even earlier, depending on car brands and new model releases.
I think very few things changed in US in regard to 2016->2017. I know Nissan added support for Apple CarPlay to the headunit. Not sure if SL has it or not.
The rest of research you will have to do on your own.
I don't know what the Israel appointed Maxima's are like, and the prices are definitely region based, because all cars in Israel are expensive, but they are also sponsored by work alot of times.

Maxud pretty much nailed it. The normal model year production run for most vehicles is from July of the year prior to the designated model year until July of the designated model year. So, unless something unusual happens, 2017 Maximas will normally be built between July 2016 and July 2017.

The exception to that situation is the first model year of a new generation. For instance, a few very early test versions of the 2016 Maxima were built in fall of 2014 and tested under camouflage in late 2014. A larger number of 2016 Maximas were built for test purposes as early as January of 2015, then were being built as early as March of 2015 for eventual sale, and actually went on sale June 3rd of 2015.

The 2009 Maxima, which was the first model year of the 7th generation began full production in late February, and went on sale June 26th of 2008.

The differences between the SL and the Platinum are outlined on websites such as www.nissanusa.com, etc. You really should take the time to read Nissan's lists on exactly what is included on each of these two vehicles and decide which best fits your needs.
