Antifreeze/coolant equivalent
#3
What A36-SR said. The change interval on the OEM coolant in the 8th gen Maxima (and on many cars these days) is 105,000 miles. Of course, if any is lost for whatever reason, then we are talking money. But, considering this should be necessary only a few times during the life of the car, I would just grit my teeth and buy the recommended stuff.

Yes, you can get the blue stuff at your local Advance Auto store. Very reasonably priced. Don't let Nissan jerk you into using theirs.
It is Pentosin Pentofrost A3.

Antifreeze from the dealership is about $20 to $28. All good coolants, including the Nissan OEM one and the good ones from autozone and advance auto, are all rated to last for about 100,000 miles between changes.
I hope you do not have to need to be topping off before then. That will mean you may have a problem somewhere like a leak or some other thing.
Ok, if you drive your 2017 for 100,000 miles and then you refuse to pay even $30 to buy coolant to do a drain and fill, then I really do not understand why you would do that.
Oil changes are about $30 or way higher if you use Synthetic. And by the time your Maxima gets to 100,000 miles, you may have done atleast 10 oil changes. That means you may have spent over $300 in oil changes. So, why would you feel bad buying the same coolant which you just used for the last 100,000 miles and your Maxima ran in top shape and had no problems with overheating?
If you use the blue one and get 100,000 miles with no problems, wouldn't you like to go another 100,000 miles guaranteed with what you already have experience with that just gave you 100,000 miles with no problems? And the coolant will cost you less than $30 to give you that same peace of mind for another 100,000 miles?
Think about it.
But at the end of the day, it is your car. You paid for it. So, you can put anything in it that you want to.

Look at oil changes. Many, I say many people run full synthetic. Do you know bobistheoilguy? The most resourceful forum about oil changes.
Ok, way too many people run full synthetic oil in their cars. But you find some people running the same oil for 10,000 miles, while others run it for 5,000 miles only or some people say they can extend it to 7,000 miles. Then there are some people who even use full synthetic only for 3,000 miles. Which some people say it is a waste. But remember we all own our cars and are free to do whatever we want to our cars.
Now, if you buy your car brand new, the coolant in it is rated for 100,000 miles. I don't know how many miles you drive a year. I don't know if you are one of those that plan to even trade this car before they do any major maintenance on it. I don't know if it may take you 3 years to get to 60,000 miles or 5 years to get there.
But for your own peace of mind, if you feel as to change it at 60,000 miles, I see no problem in doing that. If you can afford it and it does not bother you, then it is a good thing to do. I don't think there is a disadvantage on the car or that it will harm the car.
