Interior Trim Removal 2017 Maxima
Interior Trim Removal 2017 Maxima
Hello all, I traded my 2013 Altima to 2017 Maxima platinum with cashmere interior. Owning Altima i saw the plastic interior would scratch easily, and i have noticed that although all around the interior of Maxima is gorgeous leather, there is still that same plastic around the cup holder area. It is one piece that stems from the bottom of the LCD console, to the center arm rest, attached is the picture. The trim within the red line.
How can this be removed?
I want to paint, or put a carbon fiber vinyl on it. I wish i had time to figure all this out, as i did with my Altima (did all hid, to leds etc), but i don't If anyone can help.
Thank you

Remove the gearshift ****... The entire panel (Start button and all) comes up. Started prying from the very rear near the cupholder.... the whole things just pops up.
Not sure how that panel disassembles even more after it is out - Didn't look.
I removed mine a few times while I was researching installing a NAV in motion toggle switch.

Haha! Well long story short. On the delivery day the dealer got the car very late, and it was the only day I could have picked it up. So they did not have time to do the "delivery clean" so when I came home I didn't wanna put the new mats that were still in the trunk until they booked me in for the clean.
I had these laying around in the garage so put them for the time being.
Now the car cleaning is completed, mats are in.

It is a switch that disables the Vehicle Speed Sensor, tricking the Nav into thinking you are not moving... I installed a switch that breaks the VSS wire to the nav. The car thinks it is stopped. you can then access the Navigation features that are normally greyed out while in motion... Enter your information, flip the switch back (aka - reconnect the wire) and be on your merry way!

There were videos and instructions for the 7th Gen. I just researched the Tech Manual to find the correlating wire for the 8th Gen. - Works great!
I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to take the factory connector apart so that I could pull the one wire out (so I didn't have to cut the wire.) I didn't want to cut the wire (first of all because I was not 100% sure at the time it was the correct wire ) so that I could easily put it all back together in case my unit developed a problem and I could retain my warranty!
On the 7th gen you could also ground the parking brake wire and have video in motion. I don't care nor use that so I did not even go there.
