Forward Emergerncy Braking System Disengages in Heavy Rain

Anyone else have this issue? The FEB disconnect warning pops up, and the FEB turns itself off in heavy rain?

This has happened to me twice, although I have a sneaking suspicion that the heavy rain incidents also coincided with a recent waxing, and it may have to do with a thin layer of wax that covered the sensor (combined with the heavy rain) that threw the system off.

It can happen in heavy rain. Anything that blocks the sensor or interrupts the field for a good scan i.e. sheet of rain, snow, ice, will automatically disengage the system. Wax, I'm not sure but I don't think that would have a detrimental impact. If others have resprayed their bumpers or plasti-dipped then I can't see that causing the error. Rain you just have to wait out, but snow you can clean off the area: it's item number 2 in the diagram below. Typically I have to restart the vehicle after to reset the FEB. Hope this helps.

I beieve the ICC Cruise also stops workng under these extreme conditions. Over all maybe 2% of the time. Probably more of a good thing than bad.

awesome feedback guys, thank you! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me. I'm heading in for my first oil change in a week, and am making a list of items for the dealer to address...I wanted to check here before bringing it up with them.

It happened to me last week driving through a heavy steady rain on the NJ turnpike. This can happen and states so in the user manual.

This has happened to me twice within about a month or so. The first time was just about a month ago when it was really cold with freezing rain. (I live in Wisconsin) The second time it happened was just the other day when we had really heavy rain. I figured it would happen with the freezing rain and ice possibly sticking to the bumper but just rain itself? Would have never guessed. Good to know though.
