Trading in 7thgen for 8thgen SL vs SR
Looking to trade in my 09, I love the paddle shifters and moon roof combo I have right now...
Does anybody with an SR miss the moon roof enough to regret buying and Does anybody with an SL miss the paddles enough to regret buying it??? I'm leaning towards the SR and I've seen the thread on here comparing them but I wanted to hear from people who have driven them for a while now...There's a used 16 SR buy me with 25k on it for 22,9XX right around what I paid for my 09 in 2012.

I've had a sunroof or convertible in every car that I have ever owned and I purchased the 17' SR and haven't even noticed that its not there. If I want some air I just roll down the window. You won't regret it. Plus with the SR you get the Premium Bose sound, paddle shifters and upgraded upholstery + some extras.
I drove the SR and way to stiff for me as a sportscar enthusiast and empty nester. The SL is way more to my liking but still plenty stiff in the twisties, almost still too stiff. As for paddle shifters I've never had them in a Max but I've owned an Altima and late model Vette and never saw a use for them. Kinda like an answer to a question that was never asked. Then again, I see you like the shifters so you will probably miss the steering column-mounted ones on the SR. The SL has manual shifting but it's located on the shifter, emulating the old stick-shift. That said, the CVT goes like stink when opened up, especially in Sport Mode, and I doubt the column finger shift will be as quick. At least my C6 Vette confirms that fact! As for the moon/sun roof, well I debated that when looking at an SV and I would have bought an SV but having no Bose in that one was a deal-breaker. Looking back on my SL experience I really think the dual moon/sun roofs add value and just brighten up the interior even on an overcast day. And from the outside the roof just looks way cool; looks like an all glass top. As for that extra ventilation, well, that's a toss-up because opening either side window is more efficient ventilation and you don't get the roar of the wind from the roof, especially on the interstate. Would I make the identical purchase again?..you bet.
Honestly, it comes down too what works best for you. I drive a 16 SR and at first i was like how can they not put a moonroof in the Sport model..then I realized that from a marketing perspective if they did that then Nissan would probably only sell the SR and never get sales from other trims. The enjoyment of the paddles and other trim features out weighed my thoughts of missing the moonroof.
Personally I ended up getting the SL more because I really love having a sunroof and could care less about having paddle shifters. I also felt like the SL was a bit more comfortable. But as previous members have said it just comes down to what your preference is.
