Vehicle Dynamics Control

I was reading up about this in the manual, and a question arose. It states that if the VDC system detects wheel slip on a slipping drive wheel, it will control brake pressure on that slipping drive wheel, so power is transferred to a non-slipping drive wheel on the same axle. So, are both front wheels being powered at all times, or is it only one, unless slip is detected?

Both are being powered all the time....but through a differential which allows different rates of revolution. Think about going around a curve or turning....the outside wheel MUST travel farther and therefore turn faster than the inside wheel.

The VDC that you're asking about monitors for wheel SPIN....I.E: a wheel (or wheels) that are turning considerably faster than the car is moving (think burnout) and the system will apply braking to that wheel and/or cut engine power to help maintain driver control of the vehicle. This also applies to cornering too fast and the tires losing side grip (sliding). The vehicle will engage the brakes slightly on the inside tires to keep the car from spinning out.
