Day/Night mode for navigation

I am having a heck of a time trying to set my navigation screen to display the proper mode. My map is in night mode during the day and day mode during the night. I followed the troubleshooting steps laid out in the on page 8-20 (226 of 243) of the Nissan Connect w/ Navigation owner's manual:
Symptom:
The screen does not switch to the night screen even after turning on the headlights.

Possible cause:
The daytime screen was set the last time the headlights were turned on.

Possible solution:
Set the screen to the night screen mode using < > when turning on the headlights.
Maybe I am not performing the sequence properly. Anyone have any tips?

Thanks in advance!

the day/night display is linked to your headlights. If you have your lights in the off mode then your day/night screen is on manual mode. If you change your head lights to auto then your screen will adjust on its own. If you change your headlights to parking lights then your screen will stay in night mode. Not sure if this helps

Yes. be sure the car is running. If the headlights are on, select the nighttime mode. If the headlights are not on, select the daytime mode.

Or, turn the headlights on and select the nighttime mode.

Thanks for clarifying! I'll try this next time I'm driving.

Check if the AM/PM on your clock is set right.
