Brake Parts

So here is a pic of what I have so far. Just waiting for the rotors, pads and lines to come in. As far as the hardware for the calipers if anyone can chime in and check out the pic and let me know if I have all the pieces I need. Looks like they sent me and extra clip for the front caliper. Thanks in advance.

I don’t know about spending the money on 2 piece rotors. I’m only 1200 into this mod and have all the parts I need. If I was gonna spend 2 grand or better I would just do a true big brake kit.

So my mechanic called me and said the front as brake lines that came with the stop tech kit were too long. He said the tears were good but that the fronts would look a little sloppy because they are too long. I trust his opinion as he is meticulous like me. My question is did anyone else have this problem?? Or did u just install them anyway?

I just told him to go ahead and install the lines anyways. Told him to do the best he could to make it look nice. He wasn’t pleased as he hates “rigging” things as he calls it lol

He actually made it look very nice. He did a clean job. I’ll get some pics of the brakes when I get the car back. I’m waiting on new hub centric spacers and longer wheel studs to come in the mail before I bring her home.

I gotta ask how longer brake lines are not going to look as good as stock. I'd be more concerned with performance. Really, will anyone be able to see the brake lines anyway tucked back in behind the rotors? And once the pads start wearing won't all that brake dust be imbedded in the stainless braid just turning the lines black anyway? Just curious and thinking out loud.

Looks like his wheels will show a lot of the brakes, so all of that needs to look good. Seems to me this guy is meticulous about this stuff. I bet he already has a detail plan to keep those brakes and lines clean at every other car washing.

Yes the wheels show a lot of the brakes and everything really. Which is why I did the brake upgrade. It looks really nice with the wheels. If the brake lines would have been installed sloppy it would have been noticeable. Doesn’t matter if they get dirty they can be cleaned just like everything else. The point was not to have a bunch of extra brake line just dangling.

Here are some quick pics I took. I’ll get some better ones. I have bronze akebono decals that I forgot to give him to put on. So I’ll be putting those on one day this week.

I was hoping to see those neat stainless brake lines, which by the way were installed nicely. Do they show well? Your photos prol don't do them justice.

So they don't show so well with wheels on? Thought that was the idea. Stainless lines are too cool if they show with wheels on. My old '95 C4 Vette has stainless lines but they only show with wheels on if the the entire hood assy is opened, wheel wells and all. Then you can peer in behind the tires and see lines, shocks, and whatever for judging. Thing is it requires much extra time to clean the brake dust and crud off of those lines, wheel liners, backs of brake cylinders, etc. Must clean these almost every day to keep up with them. The lines absorb black lining dust like magnetized steel wool!

I'm confused, I thought the calipers were painted bronze to match the wheels? Still looks good, I was just really excited to see the wheels and brakes match..

That was an orange color u saw on the calipers. The person I bought them from had done that. They didn’t match at all. So I went with black and have bronze decals I’m gonna put on the calipers. I didn’t go with bronze on the calipers cuz I’ll probably change my wheels at some point and I don’t want to have to keep removing the calipers to have them powder coated again. Black goes well with any color wheel I decide to go with and I can always change the decal to match.

I got ya, I was thinking you had the calipers color code matched to the wheels, didn't realize it was a different shade. Black looks better I think too.

How is everything working out with the brake upgrade? I' getting ready to start ordering eveything for my wife's 8th gen Maxima. Those brake lines doing okay on the 8th Gen Maxima? I'm going off this list for all the parts including the Q60s rotors. Thanks
