Akebono BBK confirmation of parts

Summer is in full effect and I've been itching to mod my 2016 SR. Ive done big brake upgrades on all of my cars so why should the maxima be any different..

Thanks to the faze, a36 and some of the others that have shared information on the 8th gen forum. I just want to confirm parts as I have already purchased Akebono 4 piston and 2 piston calipers from an Infiniti G37s:

Rotors:
355mm Front
350mm Rear
Are q60 the only rotors that fit?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/INF035S-Q60-...&ul_noapp=true

Lines:
Can use stock f/r maxima brake lines?

Dust shields:
Trim to fit larger rotors. Duh.

Mounting brackets:
Stock. No adapters needed?

Wheels:
I will be using my stock wheels for winter. Will akebono calipers clear stock 19" SR wheels?! Is a spacer all that's needed?

Spare Tire:
Edit* Q60 spare 18x4

You all good but you need the spare tire from the q60 in the wheels am not sure they will fit . On the rest you good.

Yes, I forgot to mention the spare; thank you!
I will have to test fit the wheels when the calipers arrive. I am hopeful the rear will fit fine and the front will just need a thin spacer to clear. I am committed to using the stock SR wheels for winter.

BANJO bolts

you'll need the smaller banjo bolts for the Akebonos order them from Z1motorsports..... everything else sounds right. As far as the SR wheels, what's the offset for those that you have? If it's a high offset they won't work. Hope that helps?

Thanks. Can you clarify what banjo fitting is needed? Are you saying an adapter is needed for the stock brake lines to the g37 calipers?

SR 19" are +50et or something ridiculously high like that.

He’s talking of the bolts to screw the brake lines to the calipers needs to be smaller, you can but them or shave the originals from ur max i have all the tools so i shave my with a bench belt sander.

OP, you ever get this completed? Wanted to see of you had any pics or if you had any advice for anyone getting ready to attempt this.

Thanks,

Thanks,
My car is going to the shop tomorrow to have this upgrade installed along with my motordyne exhaust and ART y pipe. The only difference is, I also purchased brake lines. I will report back when all is done.

Thanks,
^ Yes and no.

I purchased the Akebono calipers, pads, etc. However, I just couldn’t go thru with adding that much unnecessary rotor weight to my car. And I’m talking about the z1 “light weight” 2 piece ($1300) front and rear rotors. Even those add a ton of f/r weight because they are so large in diameter.

I decided to go my own route. I started working on a light weight solution using 350z rear brembos and 2 piece rotors. The front will use 350z 2 piece rotors and a larger brembo caliper from a genesis track spec.

I haven’t worked on it since summer but here are a few teaser pics. I’ll start a new thread when completed. . I need to sell the Akebono stuff as well.

Is the weight of the rotors really going to make that much of a difference in the performance of the car??

Yes, but that’s my slightly biased opinion coming from owning more performance oriented cars. 2 piece Rotors and light wheels are among the first mods I do to my vehicles because it does make that much of a difference. On this specific platform the 1 piece akebono Rotors are an absolute absurd amount of unnecessary weight!

2016 maxima OEM-
front - 320 x 28 (22.5 lbs)
rear - 307 x 16 (12.8 lbs)

G37/370z w/ Akebonos-
front - 355mm x 32mm (30.60 lbs)
rear - 350mm x 20mm (20.9 lbs")
front 2 piece = 21 lbs
rear 2 piece = 16 lbs

350z w/ Brembos-
front - 324mm x 30mm (20.5 lbs)
rear - 322mm x 22mm (17 lbs)
front 2 piece = 15 lbs
rear 2 piece = 13 lbs

Actually my Z1 rotors are 18.5 and 15.5 i use two different scales, i don’t care 1300 will spend!!! Makes a big difference. But i agree the oem are over kill 30 pounds.

So I'm about to start ordering the Akebono brake calipers from a 370z and cross drilled/slotted rotors from the Q60S, that will be going on my wifes 8th gen Maxima. The wheels Im going with are 20x10 RF2 concave +45 offset. I'm hoping eveything clears. Which brake pads are you guys using with the Akebono brakes? Akebono pads? Anything else I need to know about the swap? Thanks..!!

Worst case you are going to need spacers especially up front. Every wheel is different but I couldn’t fit anything higher than a +35et. At 10” wide should you need more clearance to push the wheel out you might be screwed with major tire rub issues that negative camber can’t correct.

Thanks for the input sir, appreciate it. Hopefully everything clears. As far as tires rubbing the wheel liner, I'm going to remove the metal bracket/plate behind the wheel liner and the back side, and heat reshape the plastic. It looks like the most logical place it would rub, and believe that's the area most people are experiencing the rubbing issues on tight turns. I'm also hoping staying stock height will help as well. So the the Q60S rotors are the ones we need to fit the 8th Gen Maximas correct? I'm also going to run a set of the Stoptech 950-42503 and 950-42012 steel braided lines as well.

Complete kit fs

If anyone is wanting to upgrade. I have a complete set front and rear Akebono calipers, cross drilled slotted rotors including steel braided brakelines with short bolts, and Akebono brake pads for sale if anyone is interested. Basically everything needed for front and rear BBK install on Maxima. All parts brand new. Decided not to install the kit on my wife's Maxima. Let me know, thanks.
