SL/Platinum owners..

Tell me whether you have or have not had issues with the sunroof. I'm in the market for a Maxima and am on the fence between a SR and Platinum, my concern with the Platinum is the sunroof.

I had a 2013 Altima 3.5 sl with a moon roof and had the Awful moon roof rattle that they never could fix. That was my first time ever experiencing such an awful rattle in a car that prompted me to try to get fixed.

I know its not the same car , but past experience with Nissan made it a very easy decision to go with the SR without moon roof. Plus I got the midnight package, sport suspension, paddle shifters , and all the other neat "sporty" things that come with the SR

I've got a 2017 SL with ~11K miles on it. No issues thus far......

I guess I should clarify..I'm worried about the dual panel sunroof. The wife and I currently both have vehicles with sunroofs, both with over 100k mi and no issues. I've just seen some things on here about rattles, clunks and worse..curious if the issues are more common or random bad apples.

How do you like the ride of the SR? I'm coming from a sport compact with a firm(sometimes too firm depending on road surface) ride and am not sure if I'll get tired of the SR's feel.

I have had 2010 Maxima with a Dual Moonroof traded at 113k miles and never had an issue. Now I have a 2016 SL with the Dual Panel no issues so far.

No issues with 16 platinum or 16 SL. 10 Premium with 90k on it is fully operational, but squeaks like crazy. The key is proper maintenance/routine lubrication.

What are coming from ?

I came from an STi, the SR's handling was a must for me. Sure the SR is its a little stiffer than what a platinum would be, but if want the handling, things are going to be a bit stiffer.

Ride quality though is no where near as rough in my Maxima SR as it was the STi. The Maxima SR feels like a luxury car in comparison , but still retains a tight sporty feel.

A part broke in my 2016 Platinum double-panel sunroof at around 7K miles, and it was not fixable, so Nissan paid for an entirely new double-panel sunroof for me at no cost.

I was pleased with the immediate fix, but a little surprised they had to take out the inside seats in order to get the new roof inside the car and raised to its proper place. So far, now at 11K miles, I have had no other problem with my Platinum.

'17 Platinum with no issues, but I rarely open the roof because I like tilting it and cracking the back windows for ventilation. I love the amount of sunlight that comes in the cabin though.

I found that cracking both passenger side windows about 1-2 inches provides really good air flow and not a lot of wind noise. Better than any roof I've had in recent memory.

I have a RSX-S now. I completely agree that things will be a little tighter if you want handling. I guess the question is, does the SR have the right balance for both handling and ride quality?

IMHO yes! Keep in mind the STI I'm coming from had one of the harshest ride qualities around.

I was not in the market for anything when I got the Maxima really. I enjoyed the STi, just that with this years road construction and traffic, Driving the STI anywhere became a chore. If I drove into work, I was fatigued by the time I got there. Plus a lot of the driving I do is pretty straight highway. When I took a look and drove the Maxima SR, it was like night and day for comfort, plus sport too, best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned.

I had a 2004 RSX type s years back. Those were nice cars. I cant say for sure , but ride quality may be similar. The RSX's weren't too harsh for the type of car they were.
