Forward Predictive Warning Cuts Off

Have 2017 Max SL. Anyone else have this problem? Has turned off on me twice since last December. Once on clear day during slow right hand sweep with concrete barrier to my left (reset itself after a few miles) and then again several days ago on a mildly rainy day while merging behind a car from a straight on-ramp with a guy on my butt. Reset only for a few seconds after I pulled over and cut off ignition then restarted, then the pop-up came back on and I received a short message too quick to catch; something about Inactive Collision Avoidance or something like that. Did not reset permanently until car had been sitting for a few hours.

Man, it's startling when the pop-up error occurs and you lose speed and cruise control at the same time, especially with some guy on your butt honking because you are slowing down! That's an accident waiting to happen CAUSED BY THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. I'm hoping it set a code for the dealer because if it didn't the only thing I have is the attached photo.

It's an important warning light. It needs to be taken to the shop. 2 months ago I had a similar problem.
It was first noticed when I was driving using the cruise control. It would cut out and the warning light would come on. I had no FEBC during that time and no cruise control. When I shut the car off and then restarted it would be back to normal or so I thought. While driving the car [ without cruise control] for at least 20 minutes the warning light would come on,meaning no protection.
I took it to the shop. They had no experience with this problem but made some corrective reboot of software really not sure what. It has been fine since then.

I have the 2017 Platinum and I have had this happen a few times in heavy rain and when exiting the Lincoln tunnel in NY. The manager at my dealership said that the system uses the front camera for this but I am not sure if I believe him because if you are getting this with an SL which I think does not have the around view camera then its something else. If the camera was used and lights mess with it or the view is distorted in rain then I can see what he said is true. It has not happened in a while and it does reset after a few miles of it coming on. Good to see I was not the only one with this issue. The car does not keep track of it happening if scanned so not sure how to document it other than pics or video of it.

Thanks

What you are referring to is normal occurrence which is in the manual. What I had corrected [repaired] was a failure.

It isn't using the camera - I rented an SL and drove through torrential rain one night. The car told me it was shutting it off. It must be using radar of some kind.

Could the front sonar object detectors be triggered by the heavy rain?

Posssibly, maybe not even heavy rain. My car has occasionally beeped at me when there was clearly nothing close to me. Maybe it was raining or there was water on the sensors.
