HID install/ fuse frustration fix.

One half installed... (2 fogs, 1 Low beam)
After fuse replacement
It seems as though I couldn't find too many posts or videos anywhere discussing the HID install, and the issues that may arise.
Last week I sat in the cold, cutting my hands up reaching underneath the bumper, installing the 3 HID kits (1 low beam, 2 each fog light).
As with any HID kit install you want to test each connection after it's plugged up to make sure polarities and everything is correct.
Long story short, I get to the VERY LAST of SIX bulbs to install which are a pain in the @zz to reach, and go to test all of the lights, and boom. Only headlights. No Fogs. (not even the 3 prior that I knew worked and were installed correctly.

Tried to think of what it could be and finally figured it had to be the fuse. Only problem now is where the hell does it go? The manual doesn't give the location and AMP chart like most vehicles used to. Took it to the dealership, and even they couldn't give me an answer, suggesting I drop it off for diagnostic, and they probably have to replace the WHOLE FUSE BOX UNIT! No thanks, Im good on that. I'll just keep reading for it to figure out where it is.

Last night I opened the interior fuse compartment hoping to luck up. Nothing.
Checked the fuse compartment under the hood again, and you literally have to twist your body to read that the fog light fuse is there.
It's a 15A (LOW PROFILE) fuse almost dead center of the upper fuse compartment.
Replaced it with a 25A fuse and got them working.
Pics of the fuse box and fuse coming soon.

Glad it everything worked out.

BTW why did you go with HIDs instead of LEDs?

Thanks man, couple cut up hands, but it's all good.
But I put LED's in my old car; fogs and low beams and the output just wasn't what I wanted. It looks ok outside looking at the car, but when driving it was just lacking that brightness I preferred. Im thinking because it was more focused with the projector but even my fogs, didn't last very long. Started going dim in about 8 months.
Also, the fact that Xenon is highly reflective on highway signs, street markings, and more importantly police car decals, I'd rather stick with it. lol

Thanks for the fine writeup and the fuse location info!

use a relay harness.
upping the fuse may create too much heat on the wires and possibly melt.
more peeps will say the same thing here.
better to be safe with the rated relay harness for the wattage of your individual kits.

Great advice considering the the amperage pull the new lights might draw

worst lesson i learned with my 01 altima.
personally, i like a harness that has in-line fuse for each bulb.
but that may be overkill for some.
good luck on your setup, it is looking nice!
