If you are talking 'lower' in terms of how completely appointed the five versions of the 8th gen Maxima are, the order is: S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum.

If you are talking 'lower' in terms of ground clearance, even though the SR has an enhanced suspension over the other four versions, the ground clearance is considered by Nissan to be the same on all five versions.

ps -Welcome to the 8th gen Maxima board. And yes, I do believe there have been posters here who have non-SRs, but who have made the switch from 18" wheel/tires that come on the S, SV, SL and Platinum to the 19"wheels/tires that come on the SR. I'm sure one of them will see this post and respond.

SV = 245/45/18 SR = 245/40/19

Using this handy tire size calculator, you will see that both have the same overall diameter.

A few other folks here have done it. The tires are a bit firmer, but many consider this to be the best of both worlds, you get the enhanced appearance of bigger wheels, without the punishing ride of the SR suspension.

I'd consider doing it myself, but until my neighborhood starts taking better care of its roads, I need as cushy a ride as I can get

Along similar lines, has anybody switched from the 19" wheels to the standard 18" in an effort to soften the ride a bit of the SR?

I think it’s the wheels that make the ride rough... some guy I was gonna buy the wheels from.. sold them today.. called me said the guy didn’t like the cause the ride was too rough and is returning them today.. anybody know if maybe it’s the tires? Kinda nervous about buying them

i just bought a set of used 19" Sr rims for my base model 2017 maxima... makes the car look better that's for sure, no clearance issues and the ride is better in my opinion. The factory 18's (I think its the continentals) made the ride and handling feel squishy to me like the side wall was rolling when I would drive more aggressive if that makes since. Id say go for it !
