i don’t want to buy a 2019, just trying to determine when you think I can get the best deal on an ‘18 or if the one being offered is as good as it’ll get before negotiating. Right now the dealer has the exact color, model I want (gun metallic SR Midnight Edition) for about 33K after their offers / discounts. I have an accord I’d be trading in ($4-5k) plus putting down another $4k.

Do you think the deals would be that much better towards the end of this year or even beginning of next year once the ‘19 comes out? Thanks in advance for your input.

33k is a GREAT deal for a SR especially midnight edition. I would grab it ASAP. My local dealer is selling a 2017 SR midnight for $39,800 "SALE PRICE" they are crazy. That car has still remained on the lot since we bought our Platinum 1 year ago last month.

Definitely a lot queen no doubt!

Thanks FattiesGoneWild, I too thought it was a good deal, even if I can't get them down another 1-2K, but wanted to check in with the people that have gone through this before to get their feedback and what kind of prices they've seen.

That's a pretty good price, and it's the one you're in love with...hard to pass that up I would think. Sometimes you find a good deal, but it's details you're settling on, or you find the car you love, and they won't budge on the inflated price. Rare to be in your situation...

If you like it, I say go for it!

I have a hunch that the 2019 is going to be a slight downgrade in style, especially if they copy that fat grill from the new Altima. That's my opinion anyway

On the other side of the coin, the 2019 Maxima will have the enhanced lane keeping feature now seen in the Altima as well as a more updated cell phone capability. The 2019 will be refreshed in the front and back. My lease is up in Oct so I may extend it to get a 2019 Platinum if they are not available then. Of couse you will pay less for the 2018 though it will be easier to spot it as the older interation. Really the current design is still very impressive.

Personally, I don't like the new rectangle exhaust on the '19's. Looks out of place to me.

Reminds me of the older Acura TL's. . .
I'd be more interested in the 2019's if it appeared to be more of a different design but it seems like it's just minor changes with the front and rear lights. Granted, I'm not aware of all of the interior phone and infotainment changes but the current models seem sufficient for me.

I want to wait for the 19s but my lease is up at the end of October. Will try to extend the lease 3 months as this has been a great car. I still don't see anything equipped like the Platinum in that price range! Anyone hear when the 19s will be on the dealer lots?

can you speak more on what exactly he would have missed out on?
I haven't seen any thing that would indicate a major overhaul or redesign. besides some "spy" pictures.

2019 will be a mid cycle refresh, rear of car will be full led and quad exhaust. Front boomerang will be led tubes not led's like current maxima's and nissan might change the grill to the new style although not confirmed and as far as tech goes the 19's will have the tech that the altima's are getting not to mention carplay/android auto rear usb's and a few other features nissan hasn't confirmed yet but with just the other changes alone is enough to wait a few extra month's.

Agree with you completely. If I settled for an 18 I would grit my chops everytime a 19 went by. Plus I want the improvements over my 2016.

Then you get the 19 and kick yourself in the nads when the all new Maxima is revealed next year. Lose/lose especially if on a lease. Shown in 19 released as a 2020 model. Of course I am guessing and certainly not gospel!

FattiesGoneWild, per this thread, next (9th) generation Maxima expected to be revealed in January 2019 but not available until 2022 at earliest, more likely 2023.

Well I decided that the changes mentioned were not worth my wait. With the prices going up and resale value of cars going down.
this was the time to strike. So I turned in my 2016 Maxima Platiumn and leased a 2018 Maxima Pearl White , Cashmere interior.
The offer I was given was to hard to pass up. Anyway good luck on what ever decision yo make.

Randy,
Yes they are making some killer deals on the 18s and that financial gain is sure something to consider. I'm not even sure I can get a 19 at the beginning of 2019 but I do need to either extend my lease past the end of October or at least get the numbers for the 2018 soon. How did the lease numbers compare with the 2016?

That's what I hear so a leasing a 2019 for another 3 years works out about right

My past experience leasing tells me that when the new model year turns over they will not heavily discount the
2019 because they want to move all 2018 Maxima's. So you have something to go on. First the dealer I work with
has always been first rate in my opinion and salemens has been there for years. They took one look at my 2016
Plat Maxima and said that they would want to buy it - which they did that gave me $550 on top of the discounts of
$8050. Payed one month $ 435 and gave them my keys and they gave me the keys to the 2018. I am very picky
as they had two 2018 Pearl whites on the lot. I told them the one they had from Jan 2018 which has a production
date of mid December 2017 I don't want. I wanted the one they received in mid June 2018. I also checked and the
June production 2018 had the latest maps while the Dec 2017 had older Maps. So keep in mind options
the car has Pearl White , Splash Guards , Mats , Trunk Mat and First Aid kit. Plus Premium Spoiler.
Changes from my last car are 2 USB ports in rear console which light up. Passenger seat is now 6 way instead of
4 way and Apple Car Play. By the way this is my 9th lease of a Maxima.

That is a super deal. Assuming you went for another Platinum? Nissan has a deal to waive the last 2 months of my lease if I go with a 2018. Guess I should talk to my dealer and see if they are anywhere close to what you got.

Yes it was a 2016 Platinum. Also they were going to originally waive the last 2 month's but decided to purchase it.
Any way It doesn't hurt to get some numbers. just be ready to walk away if you don't like what they are offering.
As my 2016 Platinum - Monthly was 425 , and 1200 down plus it wasn't pearl white.

Good luck

Yes, not happening. We will probably not see an 'all new' Maxima on dealer lots until the 9th gen arrives in either late 2022 or early 2023 as the 2023 model year. Ghosn announced back around 2013 that the Maxima would probably be on a seven years per generation schedule.

We have a poster here with the board name MONTE 01&97 SE who has some kind of connection to someone at Nissan, and MONTE told me back around 2013 that his info was that the Maxima would be on an extended generation plan, with less frequent new generation releases. His info was certainly correct with the gen 07 to gen 08 changeover.

Right on all counts, Light! Just got off the phone with Nissan USA and no word on when the lightly changed 2019 Maxima's will be in the dealer pipeline! (No next gen for a couple of years) Since mine is leased and I really like the car, Nissan says I may extend the lease out 3 months to see what happens. Right now there are some fat discounts on the 2018s if you can find what you want. I will look at that angle just to be sure.
