Vibration is gas pedal when accelerating

Hi all,

Test drove a used 2017 Maxima SV yesterday with 27K miles. We noticed some vibration in the gas pedal and even slightly in the floors when accelerating. This was evident during gradual acceleration - not necessarily stepping on it. For example, if sitting at a stop and slowly pressing the gas to accelerate, we could feel it when the car was going parking lots speeds. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some normal vibration? The dealership was responsive and said they'd look into. I can't imagine it being a motor mount or anything like that. I've read some of the other posts where people mention vibrations but I wouldn't consider it a transmission shudder.

Thanks in advance

2017 turned in still under warrantee, either it's a repo, or someone got tired of the vibration and after trying to get it fixed, just got rid of it one way or another. Walk away, find another 2017.

Could be the electronic gas pedal assembly that needs replacing. Not all that common of an issue.

Either way run and don't buy that car would be my suggestion!

Would agree. Too many better-performing fish in the sea to have to sort this out after you buy it

Will keep you posted. The pricing was pretty good. There aren't a ton of 2017 Maxima SV's in my area. We prefer either gray or silver and under $25K/40,000 miles. Within 100 miles there are 2 cars that fit the bill.

Strange you would feel it on the accel pedal, which is virtually not connected to anything. I would guess tires. This could be a terrible thing to figure out since they won't change the tire, rather they resort to re-alignments that do nothing for bad tires.

Expand your search out another 100 miles. What's an extra 90 minute drive to get the car you want.

Hi all,

I have an update. The dealership replaced the two front tires + one of the wheels. My wife and I test drove the car today. It definitely seemed smoother. I still noticed a slight vibration in the peddle so they let me test drive another 2017 Maxima with similar mileage to compare. They felt pretty close. I did another test by sitting in park and slowing revving the engine to 3.5K RPMs. I could feel slight peddle vibration in both cars (though at different RPMS). The one we were buying was around 3K RPMs, the other Maxima around 2.1K RPMs. At this point, I'm just chalking it up to normal behavior for the Maxima. After the original issue, I might be over-sensitive to it.

Hi compyelc4,

Just to confirm, if you sit in your Maxima in Park and very slowly accelerate from 0 to 3500 RPMs, you don't feel any vibration at all in your accelerator pedal?

"Any vibration?" Well, there is the slightest bit but nothing any different than any other V6 or V8 I've driven. Nothing that would set off an alarm to me. I will say that I feel more vibration at idle than at higher RPM, especially with the AC on, but that is perfectly normal in most of today's cars, especially with 4 bangers.
