Apple CarPlay

Has anyone bought and installed a USB dongle to install Apple CarPlay on a 2016 model?

i heard that you can buy a dongle... but since I own 17 I have it already but I wonder if android auto dongle can work.

As far as I know, requires a new head unit

Not possible with a USB dongle as far as I know. Need new head unit.
