2019 Maxima SR

I test drove a 2019 maxima SR today and i think i read on here that the camera was blurry so i also wanted to see how they drive as well while i was near the dealership today. I switched to the camera and i saw that it is blurry but i did really like the car especially the black wheels and the car was black as well it drove great to me. The camera seemed to have the same view as the platinum with seeing all around the vehicle. Does anyone know if Nissan are able to fix the camera? or if they can do an update on it?

Help me understand something I am confused about. You say "I think I read on here that the camera was blurry" so off you went to an authorized Nissan dealer to test drive a new, 2019 Maxima SR. You also "wanted to see how they drive as well while I was near the dealership today." By the way, I have to ask...did the car drive better near the dealership, or further away from the dealership?

However, after you completed your adventure today at the dealership, you thought of two questions that are of importance to you. "Does anyone know if Nissan are able to fix the camera? and Or if they can do an update on it?"

Unless you arbitrarily drove to a Nissan dealership after they were closed, parked on their lot, found a 2019 Nissan Maxima SR with the keys in it, and merrily went on your test drive alone...by yourself, there had to have been some human interaction with other human beings at this dealership, am I correct?

My question to you is this: Who is more qualified to answer your probing questions?...The intellectual giants, who as members of this esteemed and distinguished anonymous internet forum, respond with all manor of wit and wisdom to any and all questions, or the Service department of the Nissan dealership where you took your test drive?

My money is on the Service department of the local Nissan dealer. They can answer you questions more intelligently than buffoons like me.

But, I could be wrong.

You maybe are wrong. I don’t think you are a buffoon. That was a very intelligent analysis!

I too appreciate Ricks "to the point" analysis where many posters seem to want to accept anything written because after all. "it is on the internet!"

A month ago I took delivery of a 2019 loaded Maxima Platinum I actually ordered during the 1st week of January 2019. The camera is no better or no worse than the 2016 Platinum I traded in and certainly not "blurry". Matter in fact, my wife and I agree that the 360 degree or "birds eye" view as well as the curb side view is something we use every day! One thing I do like is that 2019's front facing camera is now hidden behind the clear sheet covering the logo.
Overall we are very pleased with the car with just 600 miles on the clock. It is noticably quieter than the 2016 Platinum and packed with all the safety features. The refinement is evident though Nissan did cheap out on the rear center passengers headrest by making it stationary unlike the adjustable version on the 2016-2018 models. Also the front LED turn signal bars are bright and well incorporated below the now fully lit bomerang running lights.

I didn't say anything about off i went to a dealership after seeing this on the forum. I was able to drive it long enough since i had to gas it up and drove it more for about an hour. I was getting my oil changed and since i saw that the 2019 SR was there i test drove it and i used the camera while inside the car and it was blurry. It is not clear like the 2016-2018 maxima. The 2019 platinum is not like that either. It was only the SR and someone on posted that. While there i wanted to check for myself. I mentioned the blurry camera to them and they told me that they have heard about it being blurry. I was checking to see if anyone had an 2019 SR how their camera was.

I highly doubt Nissan will improve the camera or anything else for existing vehicles, the way Mazda for example retrofitted Apple Carplay to its older models. It's the corporate mentality. Nissan basically regards its customers as suckers.

I wouldn't lose sleep over the blurry camera. It's not the sharpest camera around, but it's clear enough to see major obstacles in your way. It's functional, not something you would take wedding photos with.

Of course if it were extreme, you could always ask to test drive a different one. I get the impression that some are a bit worse than others. I'd suggest getting the 360 view if you can. The overall improvement in seeing where you are trumps any deficiencies there may be in picture quality

A family member had a Rogue with this on it (360 all around view). It's not blurry, it's distorted. That's the better description and it's about as good as it's going to get. Nonsensical gimmick. Give me the required back-up camera and leave it at that.

What a lightweight observation! All on a borrowed car no less. The 360 view camera is amazing since it shows you where you are when parking, front and rear as well as curb view and all side views. Folks, the cameras are quite good at picking up all the lines in parking spaces, and the front view keeps you away from the concrete parking stops. This is all in addition to the back up camera with sound warnings all around and predictive lines. The Maxima is hard to park without the cameras but fortunately Nissan made these features available early on. The competition is just now trying to bring their versions on market. We can debate whether the pictures produced are outstanding or just very good but I can tell you they are good enough and a feature set we use everyday.

robtroxel, so well stated. I have the 360 view camera (Intelligent Around View Monitor) on my '18 Platinum and absolutely love it. Like you, I use it every day and find it incredibly effective.
