2016 Maxima SR acceleration not working on drive

I bought my 16 Maxima SR certified used with 44k on it and had warranty up to 100k miles.

3 weeks into having my car it stopped working mid drive.

Problem- the car was on lights and everything working but while in drive the car was not moving. When I put car into neutral and press on the accelerator I hear the engine and see the rpm shoot up, but in drive nothing happens.

I got it towed to dealership and they jump started the car and it works, but I knew there was no problem with the battery. All the lights were on and had no problem stayjng on. I thought it was alternator but dealership says that the alternator tested out fine.

I don't know much about cars. What tf do I do now?

They gave me a loaner for now but I don't know if I should keep the car or what?

What other problems should I expect in the 16 SR!!? 44k miles what maintenance should I do right away.

Thanks for your help in advance

I have the same car, SR 2016 certified with 27k miles and all i can say is that first month i got the car, 3 weeks out of the 4, the car was at the dealer, transmission problem, vibration going on when driving at higher speed, bent rim, you name it, all of it was covered but it was a shame that i had to make my payment on the car and car was at the dealership, as you can see, if you decide to keep it, better have warranty on it

I bought the Nissan Gold warranty for 2k up until 100k, be aware that the ceritified used warranty only covers limited parts of the transmision, engine and drivetrain and is good to 7 years from first date the car was put in service and 100k miles, to put my mind at ease, i got the bumper to bumber.

I added 900 miles on the car since I bought it. How do I get the dealership to take the car back. I don't know if I want it if I have to worry about warranty and things always going wrong.

I don't drive like an idiot either.

You would be lucky if te dealership takes it back. Maybe nissan could buy it back but thats a maybe and it takes time. Dont get me wrong, this is a hell of a machine, just gotta take care of it and have warranty.

Good point. The original batteries only last 3 years. A weak point on my 2016 at 35000 miles. Replace it if unsure.

Seriously? You actually just said that?

Used car is a used car. Every used car has baggage. Some will set you back with a ton of repairs, others will give you worry free driving for years, but it's still a 100% gamble. Every new car has a warrantee, you pay more, you get some piece of mind.

Here's the thing, you want piece of mind on a used car purchase, you pay to extend the warranty, period. If you paid more for the car then it is worth, and can't afford or justify the warranty cost...you went in blind and got taken advantage of. Your fault if you didn't know what you were doing, not the dealerships for selling cars and trying to make money. Always consider the extension, always price it out, always use this as leverage before you buy to help get the price down to where it is a truly responsible purchase. If it isn't a good buy, you walk.
