2019 software update (big one)

So @robtroxel has followed my situation since the beginning.
Has anyone had the software update -> big one -> at the dealership?

It appears Nissan is using the same process BMW, M-B, Audi, etc. got away from years ago.

not sure what it was before. CarPlay + crackle/scratch on AirPlay phone calls improved. Also parking sensor is better.

Not sure I got this update on my 2019 Platinum. Would this update have arrived "over the air" ? From what I read on the manuals, the other way is by a convoluted USB routine. At 6 months and 4500 miles I am soon ready for the 1st service. I'll ask the dealer about this. Other than that, Two issues so far; a rattle can noise sometimes appears when under a load from 20 to 40 mph, then subsides. (My 2016 Platinum also did this as the end of the lease approached at 40000 miles so the next owner got that do deal with) The other day my Nav would not take any destinations, reported there was no data to access from. Strange since the Navi did show the map and position OK. At any rate eveything came back to normal after a complete stop and shut down of the engine.

Lindros, how are you coming on the issues you have encountered? I was troubled by the sloppy rear seat back where the center headrest was moulded to the back rest on your car. (Example of sneaky decontenting from the 2016-2018s in which the center head rest actually can be adjusted)

One other observation. The paint on the front end seems to be an improved mix inasmuch as there is very little road rash on my white car. I will ad that I coated the whole front end with an liquid ceramic treatment and that may be the difference

This requires a dealer visit / dealer flash. Takes 4 hours.
Not over the air. Not user-download.

Does this only apply to 2019's?

Yes - totally diff system from the earlier one.
(even though it is similar - not like we have a 48V or 400V backbone in the car like Audi/MB/Tesla)

I wish it also applied to 2018s. Might address some issues I have with unstable volume on Bluetooth phone calls.

From what I can see (after a week or so), it definitely has improved a couple things:

1. CarPlay - much more reliable (not 100%, but maybe 90%)
2. Audio - crackling still there, but less so
3. Lane departure mitigation (control) - doesn't jam the brakes as much - more subdued
4. Intelligent cruise control - same as #3 - this was big when I turned it on w/ one car length follow
5. Audio volume doesn't come on super loud and doesn't magically (phantom) switch sources (NOTE: I have Bluetooth disabled to prevent my phone from connecting wirelessly)

New issues
1. External temp sensor reads between 2 degrees and 7 degrees warm (i.e. 87 outside, reads 94; or 82 outside, reads 84)
2. HVAC temperature is still a mess to control (too warm, too cold, etc.)

Well, guys, I am not sure I got this update on my Nissan software. I read on the manuals, that to update the software I need a convoluted USB routine and maybe my dealer knows something about this. The other day my app and navigation system reported there was no data to access from. So I want to ask them whether they https://s-pro.io/healthcare can help me with that or not..

I suggest you contact a Nissan dealer's service department and ask that question.

They would have the answer.

Rob, I must have missed your "rattle" can issue. What's the temp outside when you hear this? You are running Premium right? I'm leaning towards detonation knock, but I know you know this. "Rattle can" is very typical noise with this.

Hi, it only does the rattle can noise from 20 to 30 mph. Almost sounds like a heat shield that is loose. I have never had any detonation noise in the 2016 or the current 2019 Maxima. Ambient temp seems not to matter when the noise occurs which now is intermittent. Also have rear suspension cracking noise that appears when it is very cold. Dealer has checked both issues but can't find a reason. Beyond those noises, the car has been great so far with 34000 miles on the clock.
Sorry this thread has drifted from the original question on software updates.
