I’ve had my 2017 maxima in 8x, I think. I’ll not sure I’ve lost count at this point. I’ve had the dash cluster replaced, a vent housing in the driver door area, a plastic bracket or housing behind the dash cluster, padding added...I think that’s it.

A few times it didn’t rattle of course. My local Nissan dealer eventually said there’s nothing more they can do they can’t pin point it. I took it to a different town dealership and it literally rattled on the road in front of the dealer. I even recorded a video (I posted here) that you can clearly hear the rattle or click. I showed them but of course I get a call later saying they couldn’t hear anything.

I then drove with the service manager and I could faintly hear it a few times but barely. It’s been very high humidity and it seems like when it’s been sitting in the sun everything swells up and tightens, reducing rattles.

I’m ready to sell this dam thing because of this rattle. I actually gave it listed on FB. But I do love the car and all the options you get so I’m seeing if anyone can help or had similar rattles and a fix.

It’s like a click or single rattle sound. It sounds like it’s coming from the plastic housing area that is between the steering wheel and dash cluster, but I’ve been told it could be coming from anywhere and the sound travels up there.

And my last question is if I can’t find the source could I sound proof the steering wheel housing so I just can’t hear the sound?
