Talking Let the Fun BEGIN!

Hey All,

Finally starting a long process of making my 2018 Maxima actually, well mine.

1. Window tinting is happening this Thursday. Going with 3M ceramic 20% all around except the front. Still debating whether or not to tint the windshield, however, living in the Phoenix Metro area comes with at least one glass chip or crack every year. Hopefully, the 20% tint helps with the extreme heat.

2. Custom license plate has been ordered. Two reasons for this: A) Yes, I am one of those people. B) Arizona recently started changing the arrangements of license plate letters and numbers. So any normal state (lol) will produce a license plate that is a random set of letters and numbers. Arizona decided to use more letters than numbers. If you're like me, I always try to decipher what a person was thinking when ordering a custom plate or the plates meaning. WELL, AZ DMV or MVD as it is here decided to grace me with a license plate that read "SCA4CRA"(this plate is no longer valid)...WTF is that. So this is the reason for a custom plate. I can tell you it will be the "Supporting Public Safety" plate, and it will start with "JDM". Here is the design:

3. Wheels... for God's sake...what a pain. I tried to order three different sets of wheels, just to get a phone call that they were either unavailable or on a 3-month backorder Tried to order 19'' wheels, so I wouldn't sacrifice ride comfort however, I guess 19" rims are hard to come by or they just are not sought enough to be in stock. Below is my wheel adventure... $2200 dollars later and waiting for days to get refunds.
No.1 Rohana RC7

No.2 NIche M179 Verona

No.3 Blaque Diamond BD11 MATTE

No.4 Finally, ordered and confirmed Vertini RFS1.1 This time I used wheelfire.com to place my order, as I used them before and had a good experience. At first, I tried to order 19" wheels again and got a phone from a gentleman by the name of Orlando to inform me they were out of 19"... damn it. Orlando worked on my order for few hours, and went to the extend of giving me his personal cell phone number so we could converse over texts and send pics of available wheels and sizes. This guy was freaking AMAZING. I will be calling the company tomorrow just so I can praise how great of a guy he is and his impeccable customer service. Beyond impressed. After working to find me the wheels I wanted, I finally settled on 20" rimos which were about 200 more expensive total, but Orlando did not make me pay the difference. What do you guys think of my choice in both design and size? Tires will be Toyo EXTENSA HP II 255/35R20XL. Also went with silver, because I think my blue Maxima will make them pop more.

Next, I will attempt to upgrade the factory speakers. I know there is a very informative thread on here from another fellow member, but I do have a simple question. I can just swap the factory speakers with a little bit better ones without having to rewire the head unit, running 16 gauge speaker wire and all the extras?

Pictures of before and after will follow with each install.

Extremely Stoked,

A0g011t

Yes you can change out the speakers though you do have to match the impedance correctly. If you have a Bose system, that is critical. I like the wheels you are looking at. Good luck!

Tint went on last night. Like I said, 20% ceramic all around and it turned out great, no bubbles, very little condensation which has already evaporated since its 85 degrees in Phx.... LED light kit should be coming in today for headlights and fog lights. Will post those pics before and after install

Do you by any chance know what the impendence is for these speakers?

Do you mind posting what headlight kits you end up using and how the results are? I'm thinking of changing to a whiter light myself

Yes, no problem. I bought them on eBay for $36 which at first I was sketched out about how low the price was for a combo of fog lights and low beams light, but after reviewing my purchase history, that's about the same price I paid for other led kits for my previous vehicles, all relative to the year I bought them I guess.

I can tell you that its a 6K kit

The kit that I ordered was through a trusted retailer, with massively positive reviews, so I am okay with my purchase.

I understand they are around 3.6 to 4. ohms. Don't use any 8-ohm speakers.
Somewhere on this site, there is more info.

Wheels almost look white
I'm not one for lowering - only had cars with factory lowered (20mm) or air suspension - but you need to do something...

You know I already thought about it and I guess the Eibach 1.5 inch springs would do the trick, but in real life, it actually looks good. The overall stance of the car is still aggressive and those wheels just pop off of the blue paint. For now, I really like how it looks, but eventually ill drop it

Wheels look good. 20% tint is a little dark for my taste at night, but 20% tint during the day is perfect. I opted to go with 35% tint all round for better visibility at night. My windshield is tinted at 85%, helps reduce that annoying LED glare and helps keep the car much cooler during hot summer days.

I think this whee/ltire combo works very well without the "boy racer" drop. Your ride will be hard enough with the 35 aspect ratio tires. Report back on the overall handling. Any rubbing?

I am no expert in in high end audio but from being in a band for 30 yrs I can say that if your speakers are, say 8 ohms and the amp is supposed to have 4 ohm speakers there will be no damage BUT the higher ohms will mean less power/ sound from the speaker. OTOH if the amp requires a 8 ohm speaker and you put a 4 ohm in, the amp will put out more power but can overheat and break down.
E.G. My Carvin power amp is 600 watts RMS per channel using 8 ohm speakers but 900 per channel with 4 ohm speakers. They don't recommend running at 2 ohms because of overheating. These power amps have fans.
