Ok guys I need your help. My dad wants me to put the front plate back on my car, but I really don't want to. He's afraid to get a ticket, even though in the past about 6 months he hasn't even gotten a warning or anything (and he goes into the city every night and has been pulled over about 2 times).
My friend told me that if the car doesn't have a mounting bracket or holes, that you can't get a ticket. Is that true? Help me decide what to do! Now for some reference pix with a quick tape up:

I don't even have the holes. I don't want to drill and then regret you know? It's a tough decision.
if the local/state law requires a front plate, put it on & shut up about it. i was ticketed for it once, in a jurisdiction that was NOT the one in which the plate was issued, but nonetheless they (ticketing city) did indeed have the power to enforce the other jurisdiction's ordinance in this case; $50 & that was the only time i've ever cursed out a "law officer" (metermaid, but u get the idea).
(FYI - there was no front plate on my Max because i had broken the plate holder parking too close to a garage door; took a few days to get another one)
it's similar to these idiots who drive around with tint that is beyond what their locality allows, then b*tch about being cited for it. if u wanna roll the dice on tint or the front plate, don't complain when they (5-0) catch u with it.

If you get pulled over for no front plate tell them you'er waiting for the dealer to get the holder in. If you get pulled over for tint, tell them it came with the car and you didnt know it was too dark. You'll only get a verbal warning, usually....
your license plate holder is color-matched. that's definitely better than a black one.
anyway, i'm sure i've showed you how i mount my plate. i say off-center it a little bit and use the scotch heavy duty mounting tape. that stuff is strong as hell.
my car attracts a lot of attention. 18" wheels, dark tint, HIDs, always clean, loud music, etc. you definitely have more than that, including exhaust mods, so i wouldn't risk it

Guys here's the law:
". (a) No person shall operate, drive or park a motor vehicle on the public highways of this state unless such vehicle shall have a distinctive number assigned to it by the commissioner and a set of number plates issued by the commissioner with a number and other identification matter if any, corresponding to that of the certificate of registration conspicuously displayed, one on the front and one on the rear of such vehicle, each securely fastened so as to prevent the same from swinging and placed, whenever reasonably possible, not higher than forty-eight inches and not lower than twelve inches from the ground; provided, however, that in any registration year for which only one number plate is issued, such number plate shall constitute a set of number plates for the time in which such use is authorized, shall be displayed on the rear of the vehicle and none shall be displayed on its front, except in case of a tractor, when such number plate shall be displayed on the front of the vehicle and none shall be displayed on its rear."
i have a 01 an had two 97's, Live on Long Island. i have neva had my plate on the bumper, always had it in the lower grill under the bumber either to the left or right. i have never had a problem. two tie straps will hold it, and wont b seen. plate will be on a angle on the 5th gens. but bend the top over with the tie strap and it will straighten out enough to be seen. will be higher then 12 INCHES. my car is also lowered. NO HOLES. i have none. as for the paint behind the plate but a rag there or anything soft. it should work out. in NY u will get pulled ova 4 no front plate. n none of us want that 4 numerous reasons... good luck
