I’m not even close to being a mechanic, but I am determined when trying to figure out a car problem to save on unnecessary costs as much as possible. Single mom life will do that to ya 💁🏻‍♀️ Any advice on steps to take BEFORE purchasing parts or taking to a shop would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2016 Nissan Maxima with approx 125k miles. I’m the second owner, have had it about 6 months. The previous owner did all maintenance up to that point.

I got an oil change the other day and they said I needed a new air filter. So I went to Oreilley’s and bought one. Why not say a few bucks and do it myself? Well the one they had didn’t fit well. It was thicker than the one that came out, but the guy squeezed it in and made it close. So, after a week or so, driving a long the car started to idle really low and act weird and the check engine light came on. So I went to have the code read PO507. I know that’s a code that can mean several things. So we checked the air filter and the box clamp had popped off. Went to another parts store, got a different air filter that fit like it should and hoped that’s all it was. Also reset the check engine light Next day, driving it, the light came back on. Noticed it was idling weird again So this is what I have done since.
I cleaned the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body with the correct cleaners. I couldn’t get the throttle body off but I got inside of it as much as possible.
Now the check engine light has went off and instead of idling low it now idling really high and bouncing up and down when in park.
I tried the idle relearn process I found online but it didn’t do anything. See the video attached. What would be the next item to check?
