90k Miles, Drive Belt Question
90k Miles, Drive Belt Question
Hi, I just hit 90k miles on my 2017 SL and had oil change and CVT fluid done. My service department gave me a print out saying my drive belt was showing some wear and it's time to replace, but when I asked the service advisor he said the serpentine belt had some cracks on it.
I just had the serpentine belt replaced by a mechanic I trust 20k miles ago and I'm wondering if he meant the drive belt but said serpentine belt by mistake?
My question is. how many belts do we have on our 8th gen Maximas? I had the serpentine belt done at 70k (Phoenix heat is brutal on rubber so I just wanted to get it done early) but I'm assuming the service advisor meant the drive belt which the internet tells me should be done around 90-100k?
Thanks!

A little confused as I believe the serpentine belt is in fact the "drive" belt. There is no cogged valve train belt>> as that is chain driven on the Maxima's. There should be no reason to change the serpentine belt that soon unless it somehow got cut. What I don't know for sure is if there is more than 1 serpentine belt on these cars. I'd get a verdict from your mechanic for sure.
