Android auto keeps disconnecting

I have a 2018 Maxima sv. When I connect to the USB for Android auto it works for a few seconds then disconnects with a USB error. I tried cleaning the USB ports, resetting to factory reset. I have no idea what else to try

does that happen consistently?

my issue was the sd card not being inserted properly.

They could come out if you hit the bumper. Clean SD card as well maybe

Yes it is consistent. I'll try cleaning the sd card. The car was in a minute accident prior to me buying it

I'm addition I realized that when I get this USB error, the USB port itself shuts off. This is only when using Android auto, otherwise it charges just fine.

Tried different cables, going to open it up and try using a different USB port. But at this point I think it's a glitch in the head unit. Because the USB only errors when using AA

Pulled the head unit. Cleaned all connections, same issue. Contacted a dealership about a software update, they told me contact Nissan. Contacted Nissan who told me contact a dealer. Arghhhhhhh

IMHO there are no software updates.

have you tried another phone?

also have you cleaned the phone USB port?

carplay and AA have been a nightmare for me in the maxima, including scratchy audio, disconnections, MS Teams crashing the WHOLE infotainment, phone + music playing over each other, etc.

Nissans system is ****. I had the head unit AND USB replaced and nothing fixed.

I've tried several phones, every idea I could think of. I've heard AAWireless works so that's next out replace head unit. The whole system irritates me. I don't like the sound quality either

After trying everything I could think of, including several different USB cords, I needed another cord and bought a cheap little $6 USB cable at a corner store and it works perfect. Happy it works but irritated.
