question for the Wizard after punching

2018 Max this might be a silly question but when I stomp on it on the highway say at like 60 mph, I usually see a pretty good cloud of what appears to be extra fuel vapor or some kind of vapor steam from the exhaust which blasts the idiot behind me that I am trying to get away from. What exactly is spewing out of my exhaust?

Your money.

In all seriousness, bluish-white smoke is typically oil, black smoke is excess gas, and if bright white, then it's antifreeze. Hopefully it's a puff of black smoke that you see.

My 2016 and 2019 both did this but never used a drop of oil. It is thought the design of the exhaust system traps a fair amount of moisture. It almost looked like steam what you romp it then goes away.. Mine did this when both cars were new. but never did it continuously

I Have had the same problem with my 17 Maxima for the past several years. I have about 60,000 mi on her and she uses absolutely no oil between 7500 mi oil changes with synthetic. I don't punch it often but once in a while I do, and when I do I notice that same plume of smoke. On a cool or cold morning at about the same speed that you notice. My exhaust tips are relatively clean. I would expect if it was oil burning they would be blackened. Rather than blue, it looks more like steam or water vapor to me. When I punch it, maybe three times in a row to experiment, the amount of vapor significantly decreases such that after the third punch it happens no more. I feel that this is truly steam, or water vapor that is being burned off by the cats. I have seen this happen up to 15 mi of driving. On longer trips I don't notice it.
I don't see this vapor from any of my other cars. It does not concern me any longer due to the fact that she uses absolutely no oil between long changes. I've often wondered if maybe the catalytic converters are just slow to heat up for some reason.

Thank you Comp that seems to be it. I have zero oil or coolant loss after 6 years 72000 miles. Water vapor in the exhaust is the reasonable explanation.

You are welcome. My brother is an ASE certified mechanic and owns his own shop. He swears that the new generation of Nissan V6 is bulletproof. Says he's never had any major engine problems with any of them that came into his shop. His 2015 is going on 200,000 mi and he says he's never had one bit of problem with it either.
