Power Steering Pump Crickets

2018 w/ 75k. My electric power steering pump is making a lot of noise. I have tried hitting it with a hammer and swearing at it profusely. It doesn't look too hard to replace but a new one is $2600. A used one might be an option I guess. Are there any tricks to quiet this pump down? I thought about wrapping it in some sound reducing foam but it will probably overheat and burn up. The dealer says this is "characteristic" of the pump and even though it's noisy it's still functioning properly.
