K-Sport Coilovers Talk
ya but I dont have time to read 50 pages, after glancing through the thread some were happy some were not at all.
Im just trying to see how guys like them after putting a few miles on them...
I would do a poll but its not important enough to start a new thread .

Control arms arent supposed to point up.
does anyone have a link for the price of struts for 4th gen ksports.....There site says there 200 a pop but in the most recent post its 100? i'm wondering how i keep blowing the struts because i've had mine on for 2yrs and gone through 3 struts....
What's the softest spring I can put in mine???
this read is great, and I still have a lot more research to do on this post.
But for now.. My K Sports are a too hard.. and ride is ****..
Am pretty sure I have a full racing set up. It's also on the softest setting..Do you think I can put any spring in swapping out the k sport spring? Hmmmmss.. These full race setup has my carr riding like pooooh.

Holy Crap this thread is still going!?!??! haha
i was the first to get ksports on the 4th gen when they first came out. I've so far gone through 3 struts, 1 front, 2 rear, and 1 front and 1 rear were replaced under warranty.
The 2 fronts have held up nicely since then, but both my rears are blown once again, i noticed that when i did not run them through winter they lasted longer(obviously) but i got lazy and ran them through winter again and the 2 rears blew, i've generally gotten about 25k miles between having to replace anything, which i think is not too bad, and the price of the replacement parts arent bad
I just recently took off the coilovers after getting into an accident w/ a curb, front coilovers seem perfectly fine suprisingly. i feel that the new struts hold up a lot better.
Well thats my input after several years of owning these, still love em

Installed my k-sport coilovers about two weeks ago and rode slammed in the front for about 500 miles and checked it a couple days ago. Ended up rubbing through my fender liner on the left side (driver side) and into the engine harness inside the fender exposing a couple wires. Fixed that and raised the car up an inch but it's still rubbing and it'll go back to the harness sooner or later so i'm going to raise the harness up into the fender and slam the car back down this weekend. Here's what it looked like before I raised it a bit.

Have they updated these in the past couple of years? I know that the bodies of these are fine as the materials, perches(soft aluminum) are pretty much the same pieces they use is STANCE and some others, but has the damping gotten better? Is it still awful or has it moved on to acceptable?
ok is there any way to adjust camber on the ksport. i was assuming it was the 4 screws on the top of the coilover but i am not sure. i have gone through 3 sets of tires in just a few months. its stupid!! AHHH
How do these "Ksport GT Pro Coilovers" compare with the "Jic magics" or the " Tein SS" coils as far as ride quality and durability are concerned? I know they use an inverted monotube like the Jic's but are they as reliable? Thx for any comments.
I just spent an entire day reading through this entire thread and I had some quick questions since I've never had CO's before. I got a set of used black "updated" KSport KP's that'll be here tomorrow but won't be going on for some time and I wanna make sure I have everything set and ready to go for when it's time to install them.
1. I want to change out the spring isolators which seemed to be crap before (not sure if they're any better now) with some ES ones. In this thread, there wasn't a confirmed part number for that so does anyone happen have it?
2 Do the perches still happen to come loose or have they fixed that? I know how I'll be setting my preload/height and keeping everything nice and tight with a screwdriver and hammer but I wonder how often I'll have to check them for looseness.
3. Is the bottom strut bolt still elongated? I remember reading about that and how it left a tiny bit of play when installed.
4. These CO's are used so I'll be cleaning everything thoroughly and greasing any part that moves but do the pillowballs still have to be removed/greased?
5. Does the top bolt holding the assemblies together still have to be torqued a little more?
6. So there's no metal on metal contact between the mounts and the car, can I grease the mounts, install the gaskets that usually go on our stock mounts and maybe add some Plastidip on top of that to make a sort of rubberized coating on top of the mount?
As you guys can tell from my questions, I want these things to be as close to 110% perfect when it comes time to install and I don't want any type of noises that are usually associated with KSport's. If there's something I'm missing, please LMK.

Hey Chris, usually the spring perche's don't come loose if you tighten them. I used a flat head screwdriver and a mallet to lock everything in place.
Best bet take the coils apart and clean them very well and then grease them up. I used purple power cut down 50%
I greased my pillowball mounts up when i cleaned them up. Your not gonna be running coils in the winter right>?
The top bolt holding the coil together you should check and see if its tightened. I had this problem for a few weeks i was hearing a clunking noise when i went over bumps thought it was blown strut but it was the top bolt. It was pretty loose and there was alot of play in the strut. So def check that.
Def get a alignment after you install them. Also, dont forget to measure ride height all around. Your probably also gonna need a extra jack to jack the knockle up into the coilover depending on how low you go

Anyone have an idea of the ES part numbers?
Hammering on the end of the spanner wrench works well for me, as well as sliding a pipe on the spanner wrench if need be.
Yup, alignment is planned when they go on. I'll probably measure the coil lengths and measure ride height all around to make sure everything's even. I usually put a jack under the LCA when installing my drop so I'll do the same with these. Thanks for all of your help/suggestions.
That is fine for getting the initial height dialed in. But since the weight of our cars isn't evenly distributed, the coil length on each corner will be a little different.
So far I've started cleaning one of the rears and everything's going smoothly. So far, no locked collars and no rust. Me happy.
Sounds good bro. I'm about to look up what spring rates I have and I'm really on the hunt for the ES spring isolators. These look good but I've seen them get torn up and poly ones would be nice.
Got a link for the ES spring isolators, just gotta figure out what sizes to get:
http://www.energysuspension.com/univ...isolators.html
I noticed that only the rears have spring isolators.
Also, I looked up part numbers and I have 8kg springs up front and 7kgs out back which is fine with me.
Got a problem though. My lower mount (not the lower collar) on one of my front coils is seized and I can't get it to loosen for ****. I was able to take apart the other three but this from one is giving me trouble. Any suggestions?

Problem solved. I mixed up some ATF and acetone, left the whole lower coil soaked in that mix overnight and the next morning everything broke free.
I was actually thinking about putting small ES bushings between the bottom of the springs and main perches of all coils and small ES bushings above the top off the front springs. What do you guys think? That should cancel any noise from that area with some added grease.
