HELP..ASAP Trying to remove pistons on Z32 calipers?????
Ok guys I got me some Z32 calipers that need new seals. I took off all 4 retaining clips and I put air through the brake fluid line hole. I got one piston to pop finally(scared the shizzle out of me) But now how do I get the other 3 out??? I am stumped.
hehehe. You need to use various clamps and blocks of wood. They pop out one at a time. Then you need to reseat the one that pops out just far enough in to where you can still pull it back out some how with out air. Once you have it seated like that then you need to find a way to make it stay in place. Like a clamp. Took me a minute to figure the first one out but the second one was easy.
Alright Thanks. You would think out of all the people doing BBK and what not. There would be atleast a write up on how to rebuild Z32 calipers. Not even a write up or anything on 300zx forums. Crazy
Also how should I go about removing the spray paint the previous owner sprayed on? I have some spray on paint stripper but how would I do it? Like should I remove the paint before I remove the pistons to put new seals in?

When I did mine I removed all the old pistons and seals, and then prep'd them for paint. You just need to make sure you really clean out the piston bores and the fluid veins before you rebuild them. If you are going to spray paint them I would recommend finishing the rebuild before spraying. This way no over spray gets in the bores. I used a dremel with a wire brush to clean off my calipers.
How do I go about cleaning out the fluid veins? Sorry for the stupid ques but I have never done anything like this before. I was going to purchase the rebuilt ones from autzone but they costed more then it was to rebuild them.
I am going to buy the G2 paint and paint them with the brush so I dont get paint in places it doesnt need to be. Unless spraying them with just hi temp paint is just as good? I know hi temp fades over time but dont know about G2. I will probably cheap out and spray paint them.
Even the 300zx FSM is limited on how to remove the pistons. Just shows how to remove one piston. Says push out piston with compressed air and that it.

I pulled the pistons out of mine using a some plumber's pliers with rubber caps on the ends (so not to scratch anything), and just twisted them while pulling outward...came out no problem.
