How big of a problem is this?

So i bough these z32 calipers off a fellow orger a little while back and since i dont plan on putting them on until summer when i get rims, i didnt notice the gash in the rubber thingy around the piston until now. Is this a huge problem and if it is how do i replace the rubber lining?

Thanks,
Bogdan

You need to get them rebuilt, either do-it-yourself or trade them in for a rebuilt set.

PM your paypal address and I'll pay you $25.00 to split the cost of the disc seals.
I honestly didn't see those at all......
I wonder if that happened while packaging or removal.....
Really sorry about that man!

http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=215854

is what i want to replace called the "boot" ? would make sense but im not sure if what theyre refering to is whats torn on mine.

The boot is the part that is damaged on your caliper, you may just be able to replace the boot. The purpose of the boot is to keep dust/dirt/pad debris from building up around the piston. I read the write up on NICO in your link, I would not suggest spliting the calipers apart. You can pop the pistons out and replace the seals with out spliting the calipers.

Just rebuild it. Buy it from your local parts store, very easy to rebuild - took me like 10 minutes each caliper.

Allright, thanks for the responses guys
I did some searches on the org and found some other people looking for diy's on rebuilding z32 calipers so hopefully now they will find this thread with the the nico link and follow that diy less splitting apart the calipers, like z32drifter drifter said
