Knocking noises

I have a lot of knocking and clicking noises coming from my passenger side suspension. It happens during sharp turns only when accelerating, when a passenger is sitting in front during acceleration, and when accelerating in a straight line when the car is first warming up. I brought it to a mechanic who said the cv joints and axles are good because the boots aren't broken (but i figured you do not have to have broken boots to have broken joints). My lower control arm front bushing is busted for sure. Can you guys give me possible scenarios as to what might be causing the noise? When the car is not in gear, the noise doesn't happen. Could it be my tranny?

my car has made a clunking noise on my passenger side rear wheel ever since I installed my h-techs/illuminas in the same types of situations you're describing. I've just learned to deal with it.

It turned out to be the axle.

you look pretty low. Are you on coilovers? If so, it might be the struts. I have D2's and just went though the same thing where it made noise at the weirdest times but it sounded like a CV. Turned out to be a bad strut.

Yes I am on coilovers and they are making a different noise on top of the previous noise I did have. The noise from the first post turned out to be the axle. The boot nearest to the wheel hub was leaking grease through the opening closest to the transmission.

But I do have some serious clunking coming from the front passanger axle too which needs to be fixed. Matter of fact, when I had it aligned last year, the shop said that the strut was bending when the weight of the car was on it. It screws with my alignment so I will have to replace it.

Concerning your other thread, did D2 send you a new set of struts (the two that were making noise) or did they send you the rebuild kit(the valve, seals, etc)? If it was the whole strut, was there a core charge? I called them once and they told me it was $110 to rebuild a strut and I would have to ship it out to them.

It was $100 per plus shipping for the complete strut. I have to send back the original struts to them but i just changed them last weekend.

Im running a stock setup, and I've also had this same problem, except on my driver's side...

Im in the process of putting aftermarket struts/springs on, but Im worried that it might actually worsen the "clunking", rather than help it....

All my joints and axles look good, so Im hopin its just a worn spring............

Also, Another added entangable (after the "clucking" started) is about 6 months ago my stock jack collapsed while I was pulling the tire off.........luckily, i was not under the car at the time....but I did manage to slide the lip of the tire under the rotor, before it hit the ground too hard....

Ever since, my steering has been all over the place.....i constantly go back and forth to the left and right, even though i've had the alignment done twice (w/nothin wrong)........

Im starting to think I might have damaged the rack-n-pinion and/or have a worn strut or spring..............

Maybe its all three, im not sure at this point!

Thoughts/opinions wanted please....

sorry to hijack but i have a similar problem and thought it was unnecessary to take up bandwith just to ask.

im kinda positive that MY clunking noise is coming from my axles since both of my CV are ripped.

HOWEVER.....

there is a loud squeaking when i run over bumps and other stuff...along with a whistling sound after i reach speeds excess of 70mph... could this be one of my struts acting up or do i just have to change out my axles.

yeah. looks like the upper mount is shot. The strut-top bolt should be centered in that opening, not off to the side like it is...
