KYB strut problem!! HELP!!!!!

Ok. I ordered a set of 4 KYB GR-2's from eBay. I get them in and they are all good. I installed them and the fronts are fine. The rear are sticking up about an inch or an inch and a half out the top. So I do a little researching and find that the struts didnt' come with what I think is called the piston locknut. So basically everythign is sitting really really low. I am riding on my springs (Progress) only. Here are some picks of what part I'm talking about:

I have contacted KYB about this and one guy said that the part was supposed to be welded on the piston and I can't get the part. Then like 30 minutes later I got an email saying that KYB had sent me the part that I was talking about. Is there anything that I could do to replace this part sooner?
I was thinking of finding a bushing of the same size at Lowes or Home Depot and welding it on myself. Any ideas??
I'm tired of bouncing around everywhere.
