Rear brake piston

I was going to change my rear rotors and pads, and I took rear passenger caliper off. I took the inner pad out and saw that the pad was unevenly worn. Could my caliper be bad?

Most likely no. What you see is the cause of overheated rotors + crappy OEM pads = uneven wear

Get some Brembo or RTP rotors + Hawk HPS Pads and you'll be good. That combo + SS lines stops my "boat" very well!

It can't be that bad since the Maxima out brakes ALOT of cars.

I have the same problem with mine when I changed it out yesterday. The pad was wearing unevenly, but when I installed the RTP rotors and Axxis MM pads, they wear fine after bedding.

how hard was it to twist the caliper back in? I tried numerous times and the thing would not twist very easily...I even had the reservior caps off.

It twisted quite easily and I only used the poor man's method with pliers. It didn't take me but 30mins to do each side.

If the piston is really tight, it my be frozen. Mine was like that and after teeth pulling I got them replace under the extended service plan. I had uneven wear.

Mine were a somewhat of a pita to screw back in. Especially after just doing the easy fronts. Plus the rubber seal around the piston was twisted and screwing it back made it even more twisted. Actually those seals are pretty much shot now. So I bought new calipers to put on later. The weird thing is I thought the rear calipers would be cheaper than the front because they are smaller but they actually cost twice as much.

Yeah that rubber boot was a PITA. You had to be real careful with it and you could only turn the piston a little before having to straighten it out. Other than that, the piston slid back really easily. I used the compressor tool from autozone.
