Can you use old pads on new rotors?

I was always under the impression that's the way to go, but the instructions on my Brembo blanks suggest i use new pads with the new rotors from the get-go.

Has anyone encountered problems with old pads and new rotors?

Thanks!

IMO, if you get new rotors, you might as well just get new pads...about $120ish more. If your previous rotors were 'warped," then it's most likely that your old pads have many grooves in them and might screw up your new rotors, if they seem flat, and have a good thickness left to them, then sure I guess you could keep them.

If you want better braking performance just get new pads!

Good point. About 3 months ago, when i last re-greased my pads, the pad looked flat and fine with plenty of life left. I think the issue i have on my rotors may have been a bad combination of those pins sticking and me using Axxis pads in the past.

My rotors went from nice and shiny to groove-city in a short time when i still had the Axxis. The rotors actually feel smoother now that i have the Hawk's. I'll check on it again and see if it's worth re-using.

Thanks for the response, as always!

I reused mine last time I did the rotor replacement, there was a lot of meat still left so I just roughed them up with some sanding paper put back on and of it went... This was about 20-25K ago and no probs since...

I too replaced just the rotors but scuffed up the pads nice and clean w emory cloth before re-installing. Seemed to rebed just fine.

Very cool. Thank you, all, for the responses!

On a slightly different note, after checking my old Powerslots over the weekend - i noticed that these are rebranded Brembo's. The odd thing is the box said they were "Centric" rotors.
